Publisher's summary

Tensions are rising in the Middle East. Iran’s president vows to annihilate the United States and Israel. Israel’s prime minister says someone must hit Iran’s nuclear sites “before it’s too late”. The American president warns against a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities and says negotiations are the key to finding peace.

And amid it all, rumors are swirling throughout the region of a mysterious religious cleric claiming to be the Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam. Word of his miracles, healings, signs, and wonders is spreading like wildfire.

CIA operative David Shirazi was born for this moment. He is recruited and sent into Tehran with one objective: use all means necessary to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons program, without leaving American fingerprints and without triggering an apocalyptic new war.

But time is running out.

Great from Page 1

This is still the best Rosenberg book (at least among his fiction) because it has it all. It is gripping from the first page to the end. Many novels collapse towards the end. This does not. The story is great. I would stop there but I must highlight Christopher Lane’s voice acting. Wow. Lane brings the characters to life and added greatly to my enjoyment.

Fantastic!

The only downside to this story, is that now I have listen to the next two! I'm looking forward to it!

Eye-opening novel

This is a great tapestry of Middle East history, religious philosophy, and espionage all wrapped in a believable story that you don't want to stop listening to. Unfortunately, the narrator isn't adept at doing accents, and since the story requires several different mid-Eastern accents and a solid German female voice, his attempts were unsuccessful and grating. Luckily, the story made up for that flaw and I would recommend the novel to anyone who enjoys a good spy story.

Inside Islam and the Post 9/11 World

An astounding fictional account of the happenings in Iran, the Middle East and the world scene from late 1979 until the current times . . . beginning with Charlie and Claire Harper, living in Tehran, where Charlie was a Foreign Service Officer assigned to the State Department . . . and their Muslim neighbors and friends, Dr. Mohammad Shirazi and his wife, Nasreen . . . to say that things are never what they appear to be, is a gross understatement, in life . . . and in this tale of espionage . . . my husband and I listened to this first in a three book series, and we both agree it is top notch . . . be prepared to hear the truth in a way that's as clear as day . . . and very frightening indeed . . .

Not a bad book

I had a boss rhat would go to the movies alot. when I asked him what he thought of the various movies he had seen, he would frequently say "it was entertainment." This is all I want to say about this book. The lerformance was quite good. the story though just didnt have me riveted. Very strong overtones of Religion throughout. Not something I am totally into. I really fid not care for the ending either.

truly incredible,

great story.... so realistic. Keeps you wondering if it could be real.
Fantastic narration . And, as frustrating as it is to be left hanging at the end, it is a wonderful ending.
