Like action, adventures, war stories, militay happenings, historical readings-fiction, & mysteries. Unabridged only! Reader IMPORT!
Most of his books have been very very good & exciting listening --- but this one seem to drag for me ! A lot of dialogue that was boring.
I will still keep listen --- especially with Scott Brick as the reader!!
90% of the book had difficulty maintaining my interest - little of the excitement you might expect from a Dirk Pitt novel. Come back Dirk, all is forgiven!
No but I might be careful when buying another book by same authors
I would only consider the last 10% a really gripping read. I almost stopped reading it several times but hung in there to get to the end. The least good Cussler book I have read.
The plethora of characters were introduced so quickly, with little time to really adjust to their names and which moving part they played, it was hard to keep up with who was who. So, I'd say - more sentences employed to make each character more memorable. For instance, the 'bad' guy had several aliases - so it was hard to keep track of everyone as an audio book.
The 'bad' guy was the most interesting because of his special talents and how he was able to be such a bad guy. Also the action that Issac always gets in to is always interesting
Scott's range of voices and accents is quite amazing. Especially with this international gang o'characters and all the accents that are necessary.
I did enjoy it - but so LOVED # 1-4. This story wasn't as intriguing & it was filled with so many names & characters that weren't as well-developed, and they were hard to keep track of - now I'm hesitant to get #6.
Clive Cussler never fails to present a great story full of action, adventure and history and Scott Brick always does an excellent job of bringing it to life.
I have enjoyed Clive Cussler books, especially the Issac Bell series. This does not dissapoint! Scott Brick is ny far my favorite narrator on Audible.
As always Clive Custler writes a good story. Perhaps for my liking a little slow at first, but still entertaining. Scott Breck is masterful with the characters. You will enjoy this book
This story is constantly moving, keeping the listener involved. But, be forewarned, you may find yourself losing sleep if you listen when you should be sleeping!
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
Great series, even better when all 8 were on sale and could be purchased all at once! If you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes, then this is the American version of that period. Great listens, but you do have to concentrate in the 1st 10 chapters or you will miss the key elements that reveal the villain. This author is very clever in the development of the villains.
Our secondary hero, Arthur in Berlin, doesn't want to train our little Frauline Pauline, but their scenes in this story will touch your heart. Author take note, and use Pauline in another book! When Pauline does enters the Paris office is a scene not to be missed.
He is so great with all the characters which is why I purchased all 8 stories at once.
You have to time it so you don't listen while trying to get one more scene in before slipping off to sleep. I had to go back and listen to about 4 different chapters as I was multi tasking, and missed some vital clues and information. This was my second listen, 1st was the Wrecker. A reviewer said these 2 were the best when he added the Assassin to the list.
Both are excellent, but I will now start with book 1 as there maybe some on going characters which may have been developing as the series progressed.
You may want to try these on new 1.25x speed to get a fast action pace. Great!
