Publisher's summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In a plush Virginia office, a rich, angry old man is furiously rewriting his will. With his death just hours away, Troy Phelan wants to send a message to his children, his ex-wives, and his minions—a message that will touch off a vicious legal battle and transform dozens of lives.

Nate O'Riley is a high-octane Washington litigator who's lived too hard, too fast, for too long. His second marriage in a shambles, and he is emerging from his fourth stay in rehab armed with little more than his fragile sobriety, good intentions, and resilient sense of humor. Returning to the real world is always difficult, but this time it's going to be murder.

Rachel Lane is a young woman who chose to give her life to God, who walked away from the modern world with all its strivings and trappings and encumbrances, and went to live and work with a primitive tribe of Indians in the deepest jungles of Brazil.

In a story that mixes legal suspense with a remarkable adventure, their lives are forever altered by the startling secret of The Testament.

Critic reviews

"Grisham's smart use of the suspense novel to explore questions of being and faith puts him squarely in the footsteps of Dickens and Graham Greene." (Publishers Weekly)

John Grisham is best known for his fast-paced legal thrillers and mysteries, many of which have been adapted for television and film. Because he’s so prolific and has been writing for decades, it can be difficult to know where to begin when selecting a title from his impressive back catalog. And Grisham is definitely a jack-of-all-trades: he’s written not only legal thrillers, but nonfiction, a series for kids, some humorous novels, and recently, a new mystery series outside of the legal thriller genre. To help you decide which Grisham gem to download next, we’ve compiled a list of the very best.

Breathtaking!

Prepare yourself for uninterrupted time when listening to this book. It will capture your attention and leave you to wonder, "What's next!" The author makes it easy to walk in the characters shoes. This book left me with a positive feeling that change is possible and that second chances are what we choose to make them.

John Grisham "The Testiment"

The Testament by John Grisham

I can without a doubt say that "The Testiment is the best Grisham book, of all his books", that I have had the privilege to read. I have it on audible and my wife and I listened to to it while we were on a trip. It has an excellent story line and the descriptions and depictions placed me right in the heart of the story as it meandered through the waters and jungle of the lush beautiful country.
I hope someone with be interested enough to take it and produce a great movie from it. I will be standing in the first crowd to see it.
This book book is quite different from John's previous novels and stands tall in the company of his past efforts.

Great story but.....

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. So well written and the religious slant was really refreshing. My only complaint, like many others, was the narrator. He was annoying but most of the time I was concentrating on the story and was able to ignore it.

loved

Great story about redemption. I loved the way that he showed that life isn't always easy and we make mistakes but that we are all forgiven and can change.

My Fave!

This has always been my favorite John Grisham book. I first read the paperback over a decade ago and now I was just as excited to listen to the unabridged version!

Captivating

The only objection to this book was that the story ended. Mr Grisham certainly has enough material to continue with another captivating story. He leaves you wanting more for this character.
