Publisher's summary

The world is on the brink of disaster. Iran has just conducted its first atomic weapons test. Millions of Muslims around the world are convinced their messiah — known as the Twelfth Imam — has arrived on earth. Israeli leaders fear Tehran, under the Twelfth Imam’s spell, will soon launch a nuclear attack that could bring about a second Holocaust and the annihilation of Israel. The White House fears Jerusalem will strike first, launching a massive preemptive attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities that could cause the entire Middle East to go up in flames, oil prices to skyrocket, and the global economy to collapse. With the stakes high and few viable options left, the president of the United States orders CIA operative David Shirazi and his team to track down and sabotage Iran’s nuclear warheads before Iran or Israel can launch a devastating first strike. But will they be too late?

Very Good Overall but....

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would but with a warning. It got a bit too deep into religious discussion for my liking. I understand explaining the thoughts behind the various Middle Eastern religions because there are many things I may not have known, but the preaching about the Christian faith was too much preaching to the choir.

What about Christopher Lane’s performance did you like?

I always listen before I buy because I have to like the person reading. He handled all of the various accents well and made the book more pleasurable in my opinion.

Did The Tehran Initiative inspire you to do anything?

No but it did bring back memories of being in the private, religious school of my youth.

Any additional comments?

It was a very interesting study of the mindset of the regions portrayed and the thought process before various actions. It was a thought provoking book but as mentioned before, too much religion for my liking. I did like the way it ended - it wasn't a pat, expected way to end.

Good, but with heavy religious themes

Like some other reviewers said, I picked up this book expecting an espionage drama. Though there was some of that, most of the book deals with David Shirazi's moral crises and his struggle with Christianity. Not was I was expecting and, frankly, not what I wanted to hear about either.

Superbly narrated!!

Would you listen to The Tehran Initiative again? Why?

I am so impressed with the political intrigue and drama as it directly relates to today's world. Joel Rosenberg is a master at telling a story but also at presenting Biblical truths through believable characters. This book will not only inspire you but will educate you in a way that you least expect to be educated; through story-telling. I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter!

What about Christopher Lane’s performance did you like?

Christopher Lane has got to be, without a doubt, one of the most fabulous audio story tellers out there. Everyone of his characters comes alive through his voice. It is hard to believe that he can create all of those voices and make each one sound unique! Amazing narration!

Any additional comments?

I plan on giving this book to all of my friends and family to listen to! Thank you audible and Joel Rosenberg!

Fun break from serious Christian literature

These books are a fun diversion and even spiritually encouraging. When you feel you'd like something lighter after hours in a commentary, this is a good choice.

The rest of book one

This was very good. I had a hard time turning it off and several times found myself sitting in the driveway for a few extra minutes. The non stop, fast pace Keeps you engaged. After the disappointing end of the first book, more like ending a chapter then a novel, this edition carried the plot and did not disappoint.

Read book one first!!

"I was on the edge of my seat!"

Would you listen to The Tehran Initiative again? Why?

Yes, this is extremely intense and moves quickly. The language and structure of the story is what makes this a re-read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Tehran Initiative?

There were several occasions where you thought David (the main character) was compromised and walking through those moments with him, you really feel the fear and the desire for him to live as well as the wonder of how he will survive.

What does Christopher Lane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Christopher Lane does a fantastic job with the emotion, he is extremely believable. When David is being water boarded you just want the pain he experiencing to stop. You never could have felt that without the content that Christopher Lane brings out through his performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The fate of the world is in David's hands and nothing will be the same!

Any additional comments?

This was even better than the first book. I loved it!

Riveting!

From the beginning this book is a page turner. The characters are believable and complex. You would think that Joel Rosenberg has spent decades in the CIA. For anyone intrigued by the ongoing events in the Middle East or just fans of great suspenseful books, I highly recommend!
