Publisher's summary

In a nondescript office building in suburban Maryland, the firm Hendley Associates does a profitable business in stocks, bonds, and international currencies, but its true mission is quite different: to identify and locate terrorist threats, and then deal with them, in whatever manner necessary. Established with the knowledge of President John Patrick Ryan, "the Campus" is always on the lookout for promising new talent, its recruiters scattered throughout the armed forces and government agencies - and three men are about to cross its radar.

The first is Dominic Caruso, a rookie FBI agent, barely a year out of Quantico, whose decisive actions resolve a particularly brutal kidnap/murder case. The second is Caruso's brother, Brian, a Marine captain just back from his first combat action in Afghanistan, and already a man to watch. And the third is their cousin...a young man named Jack Ryan, Jr.

Jack was raised on intrigue. As his father moved through the ranks of the CIA and then into the White House, Jack received a life course in the world and the way it operates from agents, statesmen, analysts, Secret Service men, and black ops specialists such as John Clark and Ding Chavez. He wants to put it all to work now, but when he knocks on the front door of "the Campus," he finds that nothing has prepared him for what he is about to encounter. For it is indeed a different world out there - and in here. And it is about to become far more dangerous.

The teeth of the tiger

Liked to read it but too much killing without remorse. Action is too fast to be practical.

Worth a listen

Good, but hearing "Bro" over and over got tiresome. Not Clancy's best book ever.

Long and boring

Tom Clancy has always been one of my favorite authors but this book missed the mark. I listened for more than 10 hours and couldn't take it any longer. The narration and storyline are boring. As mentioned in other reviews there are many places where the sentences are repeated which leads me to believe this was a rush production.

I'll try another Tom Clancy novel in the near future but for now, I'll just write this one-off.

Bland Plot

I have read the Tom Clancy books in chronological order for the story line. This is the first one that I have actually not enjoyed. It was fairly boring and simple and, although not a huge deal, the audio books had quite a few technical issues which was surprising.

A bit wordy

Lots of needles verbiage, good story line. Could be a little more action in the story.

hmmm

This was kind of a weak performance by Clancy. The narrator was a bit flat as well. I can't recommend this book.

Repeats

This was good book. Shorter than I thought it would be but still good. During the reading there were many repeated lines of the book. I hope there is a way to solve that issue.

One of my top 5 Clancy titles!

And that's saying a lot since I've read almost all of them! I like the new generation of operators almost as much as the old ones. Seems like Jack Jr has his father's skills in analysis and a hint of John Clark's panache for doling out justice to those whom the "justice system" is insufficient to deal with (think "Without Remorse" but with slightly different motivations)

Not Clancy's Best

Taking a curve from the usual Jack Ryan story. Entering areas that are of dubious legality. Too disjointed, plus they producer aught to listen to the recording. There are more than a few lines that are repeated. Distracts from the enjoyment of the story.
