Publisher's summary

Against all odds we have made it into the last half of the 1990s. The Cold War looks solved, Arabs and Jews are talking, confrontation is on the wane. In this new harmony, one discord - what becomes of unemployed terrorists?

You can bet they aren't going to retire quietly. Shunned by the Soviets, isolated by Middle Eastern realignment, one cadre hits on a scheme to jump-start the war machine. It's brilliant in its simplicity. With a single act they bring the world to nuclear boil. Jack Ryan and Dan Murray sweat to defuse a cataclysmic response.

1000 words when 1 would do

Almost gave up sever times when descriptions or backgrounds went on and on, and repeated.

Much better than the movie

This book once again showed me that movies by the same name are just titles. This was an experience that I will soon not forget.

intense!

I really loved the book, very intense and will have you on the edge of your seat. Scott Brick is my favorite narrator and really gets you into the book. The build up of the story keeps you hooked and the end is a reward.
The chapters for the nuclear bomb going off alone is terrifying, the break done of every detail and how fast it all happens. it makes you think about the horrors of such a weapon.

Makes you glad that you are not the President

What made the experience of listening to The Sum of All Fears the most enjoyable?

This is a great book. It has multiple story lines and points of views. It shows just how complex world events are and how just a few assumptions on one person's thoughts can make things escalate beyond imagine.

Any additional comments?

The last half of the book will have you sitting on the edge of your seat as events on the world stage fall into place..

Outstanding!

This is probably my favorite Tom Clancy novel. Tom Clancy’s ability to seamlessly intertwine Military, Law Enforcement, Government, a host of different branches of intelligence, federal/local and everyday issues was simply amazing. I read this book when it first came out then just recently when it was placed on audible. Scott Brick did a great job narrating.
Thank you.

Got better as the story developed.

Given that we had a massive terrorist attack in this country since this boom was written, this hits different and a little too close. But it’s a good story. I do wish however that Clancy weren’t so predictable in his female characters. They are one dimensional and often, with the exception of Cathy, portrayed as manipulative shrews.

Long-winded but good

A good book but long-winded, way to much detail about every little thing that could be described.
