Publisher's summary

He gave up the money. He gave up the power. Now all he has left is the law.

Michael Brock is billing the hours, making the money, rushing relentlessly to the top of Drake & Sweeney, a giant DC law firm. One step away from partnership, Michael has it all. Then, in an instant, it all comes undone.

A homeless man takes nine lawyers hostage in the firm's plush offices. When it is all over, the man's blood is splattered on Michael's face - and suddenly Michael is willing to do the unthinkable. Rediscovering a conscience he lost long ago, Michael is leaving the big time for the streets where his attacker once lived - and where society's powerless need an advocate for justice.

But there's one break Michael can't make: from a secret that has floated up from the depths of Drake & Sweeney, from a confidential file that is now in Michael's hands, and from a conspiracy that has already taken lives. Now Michael's former partners are about to become his bitter enemies. Because to them, Michael Brock is the most dangerous man on the streets....

Featured Article: The Essential John Grisham in Audio

John Grisham is best known for his fast-paced legal thrillers and mysteries, many of which have been adapted for television and film. Because he’s so prolific and has been writing for decades, it can be difficult to know where to begin when selecting a title from his impressive back catalog. And Grisham is definitely a jack-of-all-trades: he’s written not only legal thrillers, but nonfiction, a series for kids, some humorous novels, and recently, a new mystery series outside of the legal thriller genre. To help you decide which Grisham gem to download next, we’ve compiled a list of the very best.

Great story

I loved the story, read well and good flow. It touched my heart as I volunteer in a food bank and see homelessness.

Learning about the lives of the homeless and the compassionate Souls who advocate for them.

I appreciate greatly the knowledge I now have about the many who have fallen through the cracks. It is indeed a stain on our society. Many of us are not far from finding ourselves in their plight.

The narrators voice and the attitude of the narrator. He was funny at times.

I liked the whole story. So much so that I’ve read this book twice. I love John Grisham’s books.

Great Read!

Any additional comments?

Grisham has done it again ... what a great thought-provoking storyline. I like books that make me think. The only observation I have is that the random repetition of sentences in the narration is somewhat disconcerting. Surely I'm not the only one who has noticed this little hiccup ...

Enjoyable and educational.

This was a very interesting way to learn about homelessness. It was realistic, but with a reasonably uplifting ending. The narrator did a great job!

Grisham always delivers

Where does The Street Lawyer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The street Lawyer is an engaging listen . I would say compelling but not literary. I find Grisham fun informative and easy to escape into.

What other book might you compare The Street Lawyer to and why?

Any of Grisham's other books but not too suspenseful more thoughtful.

Which scene was your favorite?

No particular scene, but it was interesting to watch the main character make some extreme life changes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No but I was all the way through curious to see what would happen.

Any additional comments?

Not as suspenseful as some previous titles by grisham but still a thoughtful book set in DC and including complex legal and moral issues

A winner!

Between John Grisham's talented writing and Frank Muller's narration, this is a winning combination! Kept me greatly entertained!
