Publisher's summary

He gave up the money. He gave up the power. Now all he has left is the law.

Michael Brock is billing the hours, making the money, rushing relentlessly to the top of Drake & Sweeney, a giant DC law firm. One step away from partnership, Michael has it all. Then, in an instant, it all comes undone.

A homeless man takes nine lawyers hostage in the firm's plush offices. When it is all over, the man's blood is splattered on Michael's face - and suddenly Michael is willing to do the unthinkable. Rediscovering a conscience he lost long ago, Michael is leaving the big time for the streets where his attacker once lived - and where society's powerless need an advocate for justice.

But there's one break Michael can't make: from a secret that has floated up from the depths of Drake & Sweeney, from a confidential file that is now in Michael's hands, and from a conspiracy that has already taken lives. Now Michael's former partners are about to become his bitter enemies. Because to them, Michael Brock is the most dangerous man on the streets....

Featured Article: The Essential John Grisham in Audio

John Grisham is best known for his fast-paced legal thrillers and mysteries, many of which have been adapted for television and film. Because he’s so prolific and has been writing for decades, it can be difficult to know where to begin when selecting a title from his impressive back catalog. And Grisham is definitely a jack-of-all-trades: he’s written not only legal thrillers, but nonfiction, a series for kids, some humorous novels, and recently, a new mystery series outside of the legal thriller genre. To help you decide which Grisham gem to download next, we’ve compiled a list of the very best.

Another good Grisham book

The story was good and unlike many of his books, it started off with more intrigue but got a bit slow in the middle. Overall it was an entertaining audio book and the subject matter was enlightening but I wish the author would step it up a little.

Classic Grisham

An altruistic story filled with information about the very sad side of homelessness
I felt educated by the story but The narrator‘s breathy, whispered delivery was relentlessly overly dramatic.

excellent, heartwrenching story!

an excellent story, and an eye opening experience for a part of society that is so grossly overlooked

One of my favor

I have listened to this audiobook twice. Very interesting, learned a lot about the homeless. Loved the narrators, had me laughing out loud several times, during the settlement procedures. I would love a F/U to this book. What is happening with Brock, Author, Ruby, etc

From DC

Great story with so much accuracy. Always a fan of the legwork Grisham does to make his books as true to life as possible.

This was a topic I initially had little interest in JG brought it and made it alive

I record it to all who have compassion and love a good story. You will enjoy

A Big Heart

It’s strange to say that a Lawyer-Centric novel has a big heart at the center of it but Mordecai Green and Michael Brock are truly awe inspiring altruists that will have you hanging on to every deed and act to see where it takes you.

Frank Muller delivers HUGE as always, I fell in love with his story telling while listening to The Dark Tower series by Stephen King and will listen to nearly ANYTHING he reads, a true treasure.

John Grisham, as always, gives just enough info to keep you enticed and enthralled throughout the duration of this wonderful story. It’s great to listen to an author who doesn’t depend on twists and turns to tell a great story.

This is every bit as great a novel as The Firm. STRONGLY recommend this book!

Great book with great narration!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was the first audiobook I bought with my first credit and I loved it. Grisham could develop characters when he wrote this book. I don't like his more recent work as much. I think this book and The Testement are his best.

What did you like best about this story?

You really got to know the characters in this book like Michael Brock, Mordicai Green, and even Mister. Grisham also put you right into a winter in D.C. And Frank Muller was masterful!

Have you listened to any of Frank Muller???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Frank Muller is one of my very favorites. A lot of people say he's "breathy" but that's him and it makes it good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I usually listen to it every winter. It listens better in the cold.

Excellent Muller!

John Grisham is always good, and the Street Lawyer is no different. It is the reader who was a magnificent surprise to me. From now on I am not sure if I will search my audible books by "John Grisahm" or by "Frank Muller"
