Great listen

I've listened to this story twice now. It is hard to say I LOVED the story because of its subject matter ... But it is very well told and stays with you long after it's over.

Liked so much, I listened twice.

If you could sum up The Storyteller in three words, what would they be?

Great, thought provoking!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Minka, could not imagine going through all that she had.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Everything, I do not read books. The German accents and pronunciations would not have been the same.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A movie you won't forget!

Any additional comments?

I actually liked the book better the second time I listened to it.

Jodi Picoult's Best Story!

What made the experience of listening to The Storyteller the most enjoyable?

The variety of readers, the intricate story line, the character development, and the humanness of the characters made this story highly enjoyable! In addition, the detailed information about what daily life was like for Jews in the camps was astonishing. I haven't finished it yet, so I hope the ending is as satisfying as the 'stories within a story'. In any case, I am never disappointed in Jodi P.'s writing.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the blend of past, present, romance and fantasy - The Holocaust years written in such detail, the present with Sage and Leo, and the vampire/werewolf.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

I liked the way the reader simultaneously portrayed Sage's vulnerability and strength.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!

Any additional comments?

I am enjoying this story so much that I don't want it to end.

The Storyteller

I love Jodi Picoult as an author. Her writing style is such a polished craft. I'm constantly blown away as I appreciate her style, meet her characters, ponder her characters' insights, on and on. But I was so frustrated with Sage! She drove me nuts! Why was there no substance to her? I really disliked (nearly hated) the ending and Sage's choices. Why, Jodi, why???

History Lesson

Would you listen to The Storyteller again? Why?

I would not listen again. Not that it is not a good listen, I already know the ending, which is very good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Storyteller?

The likelyhood of this really happening.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That would give away a big part of the mystery of the story. I could not wait to hear another chapter (
Jjust like in the book, know that I think about it!).

Any additional comments?

Juat get through the first few paragraphs and you will be hooked!

It's the stories will go on even after death.

What really are the grounds for forgiveness, and is there anyone who truly is wholly bad or good? History is written by the winners, but what circumstances made the losers bad? This book makes you question everything you think you know about history and what was really written in those books you studied in school. Is forgiveness something you can give, especially after getting to know these characters? keep a box of tissues next to you because this is a roller coaster of emotions book. If your reading this one your world of today will slip away and you will be transported into the ghetto, concentration camps, as well as your sleepy town in America. I dare you to read this and not question your beliefs.
