Not What I Expected but, Great!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I loved the movement between the past and present. I had no idea there would be so much about the Holocaust (pretty intense) but once I settled into it, it was amazing.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like multiple narrators so on that level this really worked for me. The writer of the story's voice changes to a character in the book when passages are read.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All things sage were interesting. Also the love of the Daily Bread owner

Any additional comments?

I think this really illustrates what emotional baggage we put on ourselves. Sometimes we need to sit back and examine if we really own it or not. Deep cleansing breath.... =)

I have only started listening and I am mesmerized.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Storyteller to be better than the print version?

I am only on part 1. I love how I can transfer back and forth between book and audio format. I am completely into this book. The author has done a great job with getting me to be in tune and interested in the characters, from the very beginning. I can't wait to listen to the next chapter. There is a much bigger story unfolding ... I can't wait.

Good story about the Nazi invasion

Good story. The only reason why I didn't rate it higher was because I didn't realize it was a story about Nazi Germany. Not that this was a problem, just not what I was looking for. Good story and performance though!

So many words can fail to convey a concept; this book eloquently and sometimes brutally rises above.

“What is the point of trying to put down on paper emotions that are too complex, too huge, too overwhelming to be confined by an alphabet?

Love isn't the only word that fails.

Hate does, too.”

This book is filled with poignant moments. Dare to read it.

Unforgettable

At times I had to force myself to keep listening because the content was quite difficult at times. It was so worth every moment of time I spent though. What a beautiful story of a life lived to the fullest, and those we leave behind that carry on that type of love for life made stronger by their relationships. I will never forget this book. Just amazing.
