Spymasters

Good book and decent ending to the series. It felt a bit rushed towards the end. I would have liked to see Griffen close off some of the other main characters we had spent so much time with, but it is his to tell.

Pretty fun read, quick and easy. Author covered the character world from FDR through Wild Bill Donovan to [our hero] Dick Kanady in 1943 as the OSS does sneaky stuff on Sicily. The writing style appears stilted and artificial, like Army writing, and the long repeats from previous books are annoying. Nevertheless, I had fun reading it.

WW11 Spy Story

W.E.B. Griffin is one of my favorite historical war novelist. It seem like it has been a long wait for this latest book in the Men At War Series. Dick Canidy is back to Sicily to check on the covert OSS team he had put in place but a different "hand" was sending in the signal reports. Canidy was also assigned to check if there was more nerve gas held by the SS. Alan Dallas was busy checking out "aerial torpedo' and arrange the escape of his operatives. Lots of action, politics and history woven together as only Griffin can do. Can not wait for the next book. If you enjoy historical fiction of WW11 Griffin is one of the best authors. I am glad to see they are now publishing his older books as audiobooks.

Enjoyable Listening and I do not mind telling you

Christopher Lane gave a wonderful performance of W.E.B. Griffin book the Spymasters has a great story together they make very good entertainment.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I keep ordering and listing to WEB Griffin’s books knowing most of it will be full of history trivia of WWII. Now that he’s teamed up with his son it seems like they’re collaboration is producing more history and less action

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting part of the story line to me is a glimpse into how well a small country like Great Britain dealt with the daily bombings and it’s major overall contribution to WWII.

Some of the characters in the story are not very believable.

What three words best describe Christopher Lane’s performance?

Delivers trivia well.

Did The Spymasters inspire you to do anything?

To question why more citizens of Germany didn’t do more to stop the evil that was done to so many innocent people of the world based on the leadership of a crazy man.

Any additional comments?

I will probably continue to purchase future books written by the father and son team. I'm not sure I will outlive the farther but I wonder what a story would be like without his influence.

Great book and storyline ruined by the reader, makes them sound like cartoonish weasels from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"

The intrigue and reality of WWII captured in stark realism.

I was profoundly sad to finish this series. For anyone sharing my fascination with WWII, Griffin has served up an entertaining, riveting and accurate portrayal with wonderfully created fictional characters.

I expect nothing less

Again W.E.B. Griffin makes us long for the days when honor and dedication meant something. He has a singular way of taking historical events and giving them life as the reader is not only involved, but part of the story. From FDR's machevellian nature to the "devil may care" attitude of Canidy, he gives us dreams of the days of Yore.
