Publisher's summary

Still recovering from the traumatic events of the past year, newlyweds Aggie Malone, police chief of Dogleg Island, and Deputy Sheriff Ryan Grady are looking forward to a casual day trip to Wild Horse Island, a nearby nature preserve, with their precocious - and uncannily perceptive - border collie, Flash. But when Flash discovers a body in a shallow grave on the island, and Aggie and Ryan learn of an attack on the park ranger, a tangled knot of conspiracy, murder and deception begins to unfold.

Fifteen hundred miles away, an ex-con and a 15 year old girl embark upon a crime spree that will earn them the nicknames "Bonnie and Clyde". As they make their way inexorably south, Aggie, Grady and Flash are thrust into the middle of a murder investigation that leads to the arrest of one of their neighbors and the attempted suicide of another. When a search of the dead girl's belongings reveals a priceless emerald bracelet and two of the island's most popular residents go missing, the puzzle becomes even more complicated. Grady and Aggie struggle to put all the pieces into place while Flash, ever obsessed with understanding the human condition, wrestles with a more painful dilemma: how do you tell the good guys from the bad guys when they are so often the same person?

Wonderful

The Avengers have nothing on Flash, Aggie and Grady. It was a wonderful story I couldn’t put down.

Flash: A Girl's Best Friend

I clearly visualized Flashes latest adventure. He is constantly analyzing human behavior and his own perceptions. I loved that he does his best thinking in thunderstorms, and his joy at the end of this page- turning mystery is so true to life. He reminds me so much of my dogs in his abandoned pleasure. All the characters are further developed and given believable choices and decisions. For dog lovers, this is a great story. I recommend it highly.

Wonderful family mystery

For a peaceful and entertaining story this fits the bill. In a world of chaos, listening to Flash’s adventures is like a nerve pill for the ears.

Love this new series

Enjoy Donna Ball's other books and these are even better. Great characters and a good mystery. The narrator is also good. Very enjoyable to listen to.

Writer

I so enjoy your books. Sure glad that you’ve got Donna Postel now narrating the rest of the stories. She is the best. I am waiting for Raiyne and her next adventure in the Stockton Raiyne series

Series quality is maintained. Good book!

It had heart, mystery, and an intelligent dog. Enough quirks to avoid formulaic. Fast. Good pacing and interesting plot. It's at the top of the "well above average mystery" category for me. I will read this series. Held my interest all the way through.

Love this series!

I love Donna Ball’s books, and this series is typical of her work: likable characters, interesting twists in the mystery, and of course, the lovely characterization of the featured dog!
