Set at the Slickrock Cafe, deep in the sandstone fins and domes of southeast Utah, this mystery will have you laughing, scared to death, and wondering when the mysterious Black Beast will strike again. Add in a motorcycle gang, Bud's bumbling deputy Howie, a deputy sheriff who writes mysteries, a cantankerous rancher, and a cryptic Peruvian with his llamas, and there's never a dull moment. In any case, you'll find out who the Malachites really are, and they're sure not a tribe in the Old Testament. This is book #2 in the Bud Shumway Mystery Series.

    Story
"Seemed to promise but never got there"
What disappointed you about The Slickrock Cafe?

The characters, conversations and story line never got together. It was not interesting

What was most disappointing about Chinle Miller’s story?

The book seemed to provide information but no story that made me want to know more. More disappointing is that there is another book in this series.

What didn’t you like about E. Roy Worle’s performance?

He seemed bored as much as I was. Most disappointing was using the Bill Crider name - I enjoy and have purchased all Bill Crider books - but the narrator made bill crider sound like Shirley Temple imitating an old man in one of the early way too cute movies. Even if he does sound like that what the h*ll was he doing in the story? This was so disappointing even at $4.95 overpriced

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    not that I could hear
