Publisher's summary

Edgar Roy - an alleged serial killer held in a secure, fortress-like Federal Supermax facility-is awaiting trial. He faces almost certain conviction. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are called in by Roy's attorney, Sean's old friend and mentor Ted Bergin, to help work the case. But their investigation is derailed before it begins-en route to their first meeting with Bergin, Sean and Michelle find him murdered.

It is now up to them to ask the questions no one seems to want answered: Is Roy a killer? Who murdered Bergin? With help from some surprising allies, they continue to pursue the case. But the more they dig into Roy's past, the more they encounter obstacles, half-truths, dead-ends, false friends, and escalating threats from every direction. Their persistence puts them on a collision course with the highest levels of the government and the darkest corners of power. In a terrifying confrontation that will push Sean and Michelle to their limits, the duo may be permanently parted.

Good story - horribly distracting narrator!

How could the performance have been better?

Switching between male/female narrator was distracting and annoying. The female narrator overplayed the characters and was inconsistent in her portrayals. McLarty did a fantastic job on the previous book and didn't need a co-pilot - especially one as frustrating to listen to as Cassidy!

Great Listen

I at first was skeptical of the poor reviews and especially the poor review for the female narrator. But I cannot skip a Baldacci book. Generally the reviews here ruin the books for me, if someone reports that the narrator breathes to much or swallows loudly. Then I hear it in the narration and think I probably would not have noticed if I hadn't read that review. There are some ultra sensitive listeners here. Anyway, I was very pleased with the female narrator, I found it easier to follow rather than the single male narrator trying to do female voices. Granted I too would not imagine Michelle to have a southern accent but oddly it did not bother me at all and made my mind wander while listening why it was such a big deal to some people. Listen, read, and enjoy. Its one of the better books I have listened to in a while.

Awesome read!!

Would you listen to The Sixth Man again? Why?

Yes. Baldacci is a great writer who draws you into the story and has the ability to be very descriptive. Ron McLarty is the best Narrator i have come across. The characters come to life.

CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK

This book kept my attention from the beginning to the end. The narrators do an excellent job as they voice each character in this book, and the entire story is filled with twists and turns that will keep you interested as much as it did me.

Fantastic!

Of all the books so far in this series, this was the best IMHO, and definitely my favorite. I’m a huge fan of David Baldacci. While not all his writings are great, they are not bad either. He is still a favorite of mine.

Exellent

Would you consider the audio edition of The Sixth Man to be better than the print version?

I don't have time to read print versions of anything

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I can't say it increased my interest in anything , I just like a book that keeps me guessing

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes , he keeps you guessing on what is going to happen next

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing really , he is good but again makes Michele have a cockiness about her . I don't like her tone he uses for her

Any additional comments?

Ya I don't care for Michele in any of the books .. I am trying now to stay away from anything that she is in .
