Not a writer, a writer wannabe, editor, lit maj, or pretend literary critic. Just an avid reader/listener. My ratings are opinion only.

    "surprisingly good"

Recommended by a fellow mystery reader who told me not to be a snob about the title (smile). The book was a nice surprise with respect to a fresh idea. However, the content is a little disturbing. Nothing that hasn't been in the news in some way shape or form. I was a bit put off by the language probably because it centered on young tweens.

Overall a well written suspense/thriller not your same old serial killer story.

"Great Mystery Marred by Lackluster Narration"

I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Sellers does an excellent job of building suspense and intrigue as the story builds towards its conclusion. Unfortunately, Damon Abdallah's narration did no service to the story, particularly in his choice of voicing the main character, Detective Jackson. Jackson comes off as cold and wooden - even bored! I think Abdallah was probably going for gruff and brooding, but he just couldn't bring that off. Narration is a great art, and it can make or break an audible book. Please, Books in Motion - be choosy in your hiring of narrators!

Another brief warning to the reader: there are slight difference in the audio version and kindle version of the book. I wrote to the author, asking why this is, and she told me that those changes were made by her publisher. Strange.

    "Couldn't put it down"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it was a really good mystery and it kept you guessing until the very end.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Sex Club?

Some of the inforamation Kayla found online about the "Bible Group"

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Done a better job with changing into another character. It took a few beats before you noticed the change.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just really liked it. I'm a mystery nut and this was a really good one as I wasn't able to figure out who done it until it was quite obvious until the end. I had many guesses but they would never pan out.

    Any additional comments?

The title is a little scary but unfortunately it is a good one. There is no explicit sex acts written in this book which I liked. Only what evidence they found on a body would let you guess.
