I loved it. It’s not like Bosch but it’s so dang good who cares?! Two thumbs up for me.

Surprising Supernatural Story from Michael Connelly

Having read all of Michael Connelly’s books — almost all of which are police procedurals — and almost all of his short stories, and his podcasts, all crime-related, this spooky shirt story was a revelation. “The Safe Man” is a technician who works with safes, and the story opens with him arriving at a customer’s house to open a floor safe. What ensues is supernatural, somewhat like Stephen King, with a dose of safe technology thrown in. Well written and suspenseful, this story was engrossing, and it was enjoyable to see Connelly operating outside his usual context. We’ll read by Daniel Collins.

Don't miss this one!

Narration was great and the story keeps you listening to the end and wanting more! I really want more so I hope we get another one that will fill in the missing parts. 20 Minutes of this book is a preview of a Harry Bosch book. Well worth the price, although it's misleading to say 1.33 hours, when the story really is only 1.10 min. I think you'll really enjoy the story, it's really good.

Would you try another book from Michael Connelly and/or David W. Collins?

Not a fan of the narration either. I thought it was a bit on the slow/somber side. I probably would lister to another one, Michael Connelly usually does good work. I love Harry Bosch

The story didn't grab me and then it was over without an ending.

Maybe.

Did The Safe Man inspire you to do anything?

It inspired me to listen to The Black Box, a Harry Bosch Story. I really need a good book after this non starter.

Different for Connelly

Not a murder mystery. A haunting, suspensful story. Loved the mysteriousness of it. Couldn't stop listening.
Narration was so good.

That would be OK. I felt you had to draw your own conclusions which I kinda
like things tied up neatly. But that always leaves the door open for another book. I can
see expanding the story line.

Any additional comments?

A short read is nice if you just want something quick and it won't drag on and on. I have trouble getting things done when I have trouble putting a book down, such as laundry.

Short story, not worth a credit, worth the price!

As my headline says, this is a very short story.
The beginning was a little bit boring but after a while I got goosbumps reading it, pretty scary story!
It's worth the price but not worth spending a credit.
