Leaves me wanting to hear it all

Fascinating departure from Bosch for me. I really enjoyed what I heard in this sample

Great short story--not worth a credit, but to buy

Eerie short story perfect for campfires or Halloween. It is truly interesting and worth a small fee, but not worth a credit, as it is too short.

I had a short ride in the car and this was the perfect short story to entertain me while driving.

What did you like best about this story?

The topic was different than anything I'd read before.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Perfect to pass an hour or so. Good story, decent reader.

Shallow Plot, no real conclusion.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Just when the book should have gotten interesting it ended. It was like the author just decided to say "the end" because he was bored.

What about David W. Collins’s performance did you like?

He did a great job, I was defiantly drawn in.

Love scary spooky stories

Loved it. wish it wasn't a short story. Then again it was kind of dark. I love scary stories and this fits the bill

The story it's rather an uncomplicated one, but some supernatural and Connelly's unmistakable style ads up to an entertaining experience. Go for it!

Would you be willing to try another book from Michael Connelly? Why or why not?

Yes I would, because everything I read so far from this author captivated my attention and fantasy. He combines the journalist's experience and fast pace with a true literary vein. His personages are larger than life and yet you can relate to them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh.

It held my attention throughout the entirety of the audiobook.

I liked it. It was much more in the style of Stephen King than Michael Connelly. It was a very enjoyable under two hour enjoyment!

great ghost story

Where does The Safe Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

it was a pleasant surprise to hear Michael Connelly, not known for this kind of thing, to spin a pretty good yarn that resonated with me. This feels like an homage of sorts, to some pulp collections I grew up on as a kid, but maybe with a little more heart. Would be pretty devastating around a campfire.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Safe Man?

no spoilers - not exactly a moment, but more the unfolding, for the main character, and for the reader, of what the safe is all about, was comfortably thrilling. Yeah, I mean comfortably - I love curling up around a decent ghost story. The title itself has multiple meanings.

Have you listened to any of David W. Collins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no - good solid work, no issues. voices the annoying client almost too well - it was just slightly overdone enough to make the client more of a caricature than a character. toned back just a hair would have made the story that much stronger. the rest was really fine.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I give up. for an audible credit or two, I'll work harder and come up with a good tag line.

very well done short story worthy of sitting in a steven king collection. For such a quickly drawn set of characters, in broad brush strokes, connelly has done a good job of capturing a certain kind of fear - born out of love - that I can't talk about without spoilers galore. recommended - not for a credit - it's too short - but priced just right for members.

too short but enjoyable

the safe man is a thoroughly enjoyable short story. I would recommend it, although I would not use one of my credits as it is simply too short. Narration was above average. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by this as the genre is a different one for Connelly.

Not if Youre a big Harry Bosh fan. This was considerably different from the Harry Bosh character. I'm not a "ghost" story reader.
