Publisher's summary

Longtime defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited to change stripes and prosecute the high-profile retrial of a brutal child murder. After 24 years in prison, convicted killer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty, and he takes the case on the condition that he gets to choose his investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.

Together, Bosch and Haller set off on a case fraught with political and personal danger. Opposing them is Jessup, now out on bail, a defense attorney who excels at manipulating the media, and a runaway eyewitness reluctant to testify after so many years.

With the odds and the evidence against them, Bosch and Haller must nail a sadistic killer once and for all. If Bosch is sure of anything, it is that Jason Jessup plans to kill again.

Impressed? Ace detective Harry Bosch is also on the case in other exciting Michael Connelly crime-fiction novels.

Spellbinding

Great read. Reminiscent of Perry Mason. Love every word and couldn’t put it down. Two thumbs up.

Really good thriller

Giles is a really good narrator even if he does mispronounce words he should know. Connelly can write the hell out of a law book.

Held my attention the entire time.

I like how he was on the opposite side of the courtroom and worked the case with his ex as well. I love Bosch. Great character.

Unpredictable and full of twists with likable characters.

What I liked was the fact that the book was not the same old same old. You think it has reached a conclusion but then does a 180 degree turn.

good listening

This was my 3rd Connelly, having only recently discovered him. This one had Harry Bosch and Micky Haller working together. It even included Maggie PcPherson. The writing was snappy and the story intense, taking no time at all to get into the book and wanting to see how it evolved. It didn't take all that long to get through either. Anyway, I'm a fan now and will methodically go retro into listening to other stories by Connelly. I'll intersperse them with my other books here on Audible.

One of Connelly's Best

At his best, Michael Connelly is a great entertainer and a wonderful story teller. I'm happy to say The Reversal is Connelly at his best.
Lately, I've found the Harry Bosch books to be over the top and, well... silly. But this story is told by both Bosch and his half brother, Mickey Haller (Lincoln Lawyer). That's a perfect combination. We get Mickey Haller for the always perceptive, chess-like court room moves and Hieronymus Bosch to add a bit of action and violence.
Peter Giles does a great job on the reading although I do have one gripe. His voice for Harry Bosch sounds more like an aging surfer dude than a veteran detective, struggling father and former Vietnam tunnel rat.
But aside from that, the moment this story starts, you won't be able to stop listening.
