©1995 John Grisham; (P)2000 Chivers Audio Books
"This bittersweet tale, the author's quietest and most thoughtful, shows that Grisham's imagination can hold its own in a courtroom as well as on the violent streets outside." (Publishers Weekly)
I am not a Grisham fan as such, but this story was very engaging. The characters were pretty realistic, although I guess the plot was a little contrived, but it was fairly rich in detail.
The narration was excellent IMO. The narrator managed many different voices for different characters, male and female, and they all seemed to fit well and enhance the story.
"The Rainmaker (Unabridged)"
Excellent. Tense, exciting and occasionally poignant and funny. Sometimes the voices, especially of the women are a little shrill, but still a wonderful listen.
William Dufries' reading of this wonderfully crafted story was a joy to listen to. The storyline never faltered even towards the end which is a sometimes the case. I congratulate and thank both William and John for providing me with so many hours of listening pleasure.
