Given the importance of what they do and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of the USA only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett just became number five. His body was found in the small basement of a lakeside cabin he had built himself and frequently used on weekends. When he did not show up for a trial on Monday morning, his law clerks panicked, called the FBI, and in due course the agents found the crime scene. There was no forced entry, no struggle, just two dead bodies - Judge Fawcett and his young secretary. I did not know Judge Fawcett, but I know who killed him, and why. I am a lawyer, and I am in prison. It's a long story.

"Grisham is brilliantly comic in a novel that is full of zest and brimming with memorable characters and rich storylines." (The Sunday Times)
"Superbly plotted legal thriller." (Sunday Express)
"The best thriller writer alive" (Ken Follett, Evening Standard)
Although the author claims that very little research was done and sort of hinted that the story is far fetched, it was very believable. Could not stop listening.
Very clear audio recording, very clear story. Kept me intrigued to the very end.
All of it.
Clear, well spoken. No annoying bits.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Had it been a hardcover, I wouldn't have been able to put it down. I highly recommend it - Grisham is a great storyteller. The story is excellent, plenty of twists in the tale. The narration was very good, so overall I'm going to give this 5/5
I liked the narrator and the first half is not bad. The second half is just annoying. Most of the second half is just endless detail and the conclusion just does not work. This is one of my bottom five audio books. I really liked some of Grisham's other books, but I wish I could turn back time and skip this.
Yes. Great story as usual
The Rain Maker. First person narrative
It's a must read! Oh, is it a must listen instead?
Great Unique Plot
Grisham's "Testament" as it keeps you guessing until the end
He is one of the best. Read with enthusiasm.
Many moments of intrigue
Yes! Great story..some courtroom drama would have been good but overall, fantastic.
He accurately captured each mood and the essence of the characters
There were moments of surprise and quite a few smiles
i would have enjoyed actually reading the book
i dont know if i like this book as i have not read it yet and i am not hearing impaired so i will not listen to it
i am new to kindle and i will need to be more careful when ordering books.
"A bit long winded"
This book is well read but I found it a bit too meandering. If I lost total concentration (which I tend to do) I would sometimes be completely lost with what was going on and have to rewind it! After keeping going I did find the last quarter of the book did grab me but I could of done without a lot of the first three quarters.
"John Grisham on excellent form as usual"
A great listen, Grisham never fails to deliver and this one is no exception. Thoroughly recommended.
Read all of his previous books and was really looking forward to this. Big let down. Daft unbelievable story. Bad all round. Can't believe I wasted money and time on it.
"Not his best"
The plot is weak and the ending predicable. I really enjoyed it until the halfway point but once I guessed the ending it was a case of going through the motions. Fans of the author maybe a little disappointed and interestingly the authors note at the end made me feel like it was a novel to fulfill part of a book deal.
"Easy reading at its best"
Some books just suck you in and take you with them and in true Grisham style, this book did just that. The plot starts with our protagonist in jail but we quickly learn that it's not where he should be and the remaining question is how will he unravel the situation and reclaim his life? To say more would be to spoil the plot but the clever twists and turns keep the book moving nicely from beginning to end. Grisham is a master of his genre.
The latest from John Grisham is a good story and has a number of unexpected twists. I read the book first and then listened to the audio. The audio narration added an extra dimension to the story and helped bring out aspects I had missed while reading. I would recommend this audiobook.
"Gripping legal thriller"
The twists and the turns of this legal thriller are amazing to say the least. It is well delivered with clear pronunciation and emphasis on the right words to give the reader a gripping book to listen to and read at the same time. John Grisham as usual delivers in his typical style another book that readers can enjoy reading or listening based on their preference.
Typically complex Grisham. You think you understand who's doing what and why, but then there's another twist. Don't try to do anything else with your brain while you're listening! One of those "I'll just listen to another chapter while I do the washing up . . . " books.
It had me puzzled for a while, but all was made clear. The story was great and the narration quite excellent?
great storyline that keeps you guessing. was worried about the ending but wasn't disappointed. Another great Grisham book
