"[The Protector]... takes its place alongside the most innovative thrillers ever written." (Publishers Weekly)
One of those books where you dread hearing, "Audible hopes you enjoyed this program." Non stop adventure, highly engrossing even if a tad fanciful.
The narration is great you feel like you're in the pages. The story line and characters are outstanding. I was on the edge of my seat. I didn't want to stop it until I got through the whole thing. Listen and be entertained.
An unbelievable, unrealistic plot, one dimensional characters, one ridiculous chase scene after another make this novel a waste of time. I am really nervous now about heeding reader reviews since this book got good ones. The only almost accurate remarks were that this would make a good action movie (TV is more like it) as some of the escapes from implausible situations were at least ingenious. One star is actually generous for this book.
Although many listeners have written good reviews of The Protector--and I enjoy this general type of novel--I had to put this particular one in my clinker bin.
While I admire Stephan Rudicki's speed of narration, perhaps these talents are better applied to conducting auctions. I tried listening to The Protector three times and on each occasion found myself losing interest, tuning it out, then turning it off.
