Publisher's summary

Paris is stunning in the summer.

NYPD detective Jacob Kanon is on a tour of Europe's most gorgeous cities. But the sights aren't what draw him - he sees each museum, each cathedral, and each cafe through the eyes of his daughter's killer.

The killing is simply marvelous.

Kanon's daughter, Kimmy, and her boyfriend were murdered while on vacation in Rome. Since then, young couples in Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, and Stockholm have been found dead. Little connects the murders other than a postcard to the local newspaper that precedes each new victim.

Wish you were here.

Now, Kanon teams up with the Swedish reporter Dessie Larsson, who has just received a postcard in Stockholm - and they think they know where the next victims will be. With relentless logic and unstoppable action, The Postcard Killers may be James Patterson's most vivid and compelling thriller yet.

First audio book -- kept me listening!

I love James Patterson novels and this is the first one I've listened to instead of reading myself. It definitely kept my attention -- I looked forward to my walking/jogging routine just so I could find out what happened next!

Plot okay, characters, well....

Listening to this book as a Liza Marklund fan (never read anything by Patterson before), I was a bit disappointed by the characters. The plot is okay. But what I love about Marklund is her characters. Life is happening to them and as a part of life the case develops, not the other way round.
Here things seemed very construed - apart from the fact that I can't understand how the protagonists could fall for each other. Really.... hardly seen anything needing more suspension of disbelief.

Killing it

I loved this story. The dark story is thrill filled. If you love mystery, sex, violent crimes. This book is for you.

A good listen

The story moved along well and took a few turns that made you unsure of what you had been sure of.
Narration was good

Too many "he said, she said" when listening!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I read this book in PAPER form and enjoyed it. I bought it (from Audible) for a trip that my husband and I were taking.... LISTENING to it irritated my husband (and ME) to NO END!
I discovered that, although the story was good, the writing, when READ to us was not very good. Not one of James Patterson's best works....The constant reminder of who was speaking was UNNECESSARY, as the reader changed voices and inflections remarkably well!

How could the performance have been better?

The reader, I assume, was simply reading the pages. I guess I discovered that when I read in my head, I ignore repeated phrases -

Patterson hits again

I began reading only the Alex Cross series, but Patterson's touch is evident in all his collaberations as well.

eh..... it's OK

The ending isn't great and the main character is arrogant and unlikable. The plot however is interesting and the story moves quickly - no dead time.
