FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE HARRY BOSCH AND LINCOLN LAWYER SERIES

An electrifying standalone thriller that breaks all the rules!

Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write - and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

Not too shab!

My first Connelly book and I enjoyed it. A fun mystery that kept me engaged and guessing up until the very end. I love trying to figure it out and being wrong! Sure sign of a well written story!

Excellent story, not no excellent narrator

I'm a huge fan, and have read Michaels'a books for years. I read this long ago and was eager to listen to the audio version. Unfortunately, the narration was difficult. I stopped and started several times before pushing through. The narration was flat and lifeless. Some lines were delivered so lifelessly that they sounded idiotic. Other parts were read so fast that I checked to see whether I had inadvertently increased the listening speed. Michael's writing is awesome and I will continue to listen to more of his books, but I will steer clear of this narrator.

Outstanding performance and plot by Michael Connelly

I can start with WOW! The book has a lot of background and history to start your listening pleasure. It is long, but not boring with lots of excitement and drama. The reward is at the end.

Poe stars post humously

The quality of work you'd expect from this author. A bit dated due to the lack of cell phones but the suspense drives you to keep listening. I couldn't put it down.

Connelly Does It Again

Would you consider the audio edition of The Poet to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version so I can't answer this question.

What did you like best about this story?

The twists and turns

Have you listened to any of Buck Schirner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Don't rememeber

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither. I'm not affected like that when I read books. I just get into them, or not.

Any additional comments?

no
