Publisher's summary
Desperately trying to get back to where he was just a day before, Bolden must re-learn the survival skills of his hardscrabble boyhood. But as Bolden, with just $11 in his pocket and hunters all around him, survives one violent, harrowing hour after another, he makes a series of startling discoveries: about a mysterious woman wanted for murder; about an astounding secret rooted in history, among the country's Founding Fathers and families; about a conspiracy lurking in the darkest corners of corporate America...and a deadly plan that only he can stop. And in the process, maybe Bolden will also find out who he really is.
Furiously paced, filled with brilliantly drawn characters from politicians to patriots, from Wall Street players to battle-hardened cops, The Patriots Club is vintage Reich: brilliant, breathtaking, and impossible to put down until the final unforgettable page is turned.
Critic reviews
"Action-packed." (Publishers Weekly)
"A first-rate, high-concept thriller that will leave readers breathless and cheering for Bolden to pull through." (Booklist)

From its first moments, Hunter takes you on a nonstop thrill ride: from the top floor of the CIA, to the marbled corridors of Capitol Hill...from the posh hotels of downtown Washington, to the city's mean, violent streets. It introduces a colorful new hero for our time - and a dazzling heroine every bit his equal. A spy mystery...a crime thriller...a passionate romance: Hunter is a genre-bending novel unlike any you've read. Deviously plotted, filled with vivid characters, and propelled at a breakneck pace.

If you've never read a Repairman Jack novel, this is the place to begin. It's 1990. A twenty-one-year-old named Jack has dropped out of college, leaving his old life behind to build a new one in New York City. Manhattan's rough edges are jagged enough to shred any unwary newcomer, but perhaps not one who is determined to stay off the grid, at any cost, in the busiest metropolis on earth. And to do so, he'll have to take jobs of a less than legal nature.

Story
A murderer is on the loose on the streets of New York City: nicknamed the Doomsday Killer, he's claimed six victims in just two weeks, and the city is terrified. Even worse, the police are mystified: the victims have nothing in common, defying all profiling, and all that connects them is that each received a sick postcard in the mail before they died - a postcard that announced their date of death. In desperation, the FBI assigns the case to maverick agent Will Piper, once the most accomplished serial-killing expert in the bureau's history, now on a dissolute spiral to retirement.

Had To Listen At 150% speed
I strugglef with this one. I have a lot of free time but this still took 2 weeks to finish. When I made it thru Chaptet 5 I was sure I missed something so I started over. I did not, in fact, miss anything. If I did not pay for this book I would not have finished it. You figure out the climax early and know what the last major scene just not the result.
I will not be re-reading this title very soon. I only would re-read if I have 10 hrs. to kill.
TO THE AUTHOR: Bring back the thrill of NUMBERED ACCOUNT please. This is my 5th book by Christopher Reich.

Gets better with time
What did you like best about The Patriots Club? What did you like least?
Good mystery. It starts out slow but does get better.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
More excitement of some kind at the start if the book.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Good story overall, scary about how much behind closed door things that really happen.
Do you think The Patriots Club needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Nope, can't add on to this with out a forced feeling.
Any additional comments?
The reader was good, to me that is a major part of the enjoyment.....bad or mono tone bores me and I lose interest.

Poor Writing with disconnected action
The author certainly has an interesting story line, but does such a poor job with the story that the reader is forced to make up events. At times the plot is connected and developed as when the author builds the main character. However the action sequences are rushed, inexplicable at points and wrapped up in such a simple fashion each time that they are simply not believable. The final 3 hours of the audiobook are painful and frustrating. Too bad, because the potential is there.
