Publisher's summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER • Once he was a well-liked, well-paid young partner in a thriving Mississippi law firm. Then Patrick Lanigan stole ninety million dollars from his own firm—and ran for his life.

They watched Danilo Silva for days before they finally grabbed him. He was living alone, a quiet life on a shady street in Brazil; a simple life in a modest home, certainly not one of luxury. Certainly no evidence of the fortune they thought he had stolen. He was much thinner and his face had been altered. He spoke a different language, and spoke it very well. But Danilo had a past with many chapters.

Four years earlier he had been Patrick Lanigan, a young partner in a prominent Biloxi law firm. He had a pretty wife, a new daughter, and a bright future. Then one cold winter night Patrick was trapped in a burning car and died a horrible death. When he was buried his casket held nothing more than his ashes.

From a short distance away, Patrick watched his own burial. Then he fled. Six weeks later, a fortune was stolen from his ex-law firm's offshore account. And Patrick fled some more. But they found him.

Featured Article: The Essential John Grisham in Audio

John Grisham is best known for his fast-paced legal thrillers and mysteries, many of which have been adapted for television and film. Because he’s so prolific and has been writing for decades, it can be difficult to know where to begin when selecting a title from his impressive back catalog. And Grisham is definitely a jack-of-all-trades: he’s written not only legal thrillers, but nonfiction, a series for kids, some humorous novels, and recently, a new mystery series outside of the legal thriller genre. To help you decide which Grisham gem to download next, we’ve compiled a list of the very best.

Grisham delivers as usual

Exactly what I expected from Grisham. He is one of my all time favorite storytellers. He always delivers with a suspenseful plot, a twist or two and a bang up ending.

There's No Home Like Place

Compelling story, grips and twists like vintage Grisham. I've read reviews that panned the conclusion and, without spoiling, I disagree. There is a complex calculus of ironies, morals, and macguffins there. Perhaps to receive the message, one must have not only spent days gazing out of the office window longing to be elsewhere, but also have indulged the palpable reality of it.

Great Book

This book had a lot more going on in it than any of John Grisham’s other novels that I’ve read. A lot more characters and maybe not so deep on a lot of them, BUT overall I’d say it’s easily one of his best works. Very witty & clever! Ready for the new nbook to come out next month!

Another fan of Grisham/Muller

Albeit better late than never, I discovered the novels of John Grisham and the narration of Frank Muller who manage to hook me from the very beginning. The Partner is no exception. I could not wait for what was coming next. I was rooting for the "hero" in this novel and was suspicious of several of the "supporting cast" from the beginning. Unfortunately, I was right in my assumption as justice prevailed in the end. Highly recommended for listening pleasure.
