Publisher's summary

A plan to destroy America, a hundred years in the making, is about to be unleashed...can it be stopped?

There is a powerful technique called the Overton Window that can shape our lives, our laws, and our future. It works by manipulating public perception so that ideas previously thought of as radical begin to seem acceptable over time. Move the Window and you change the debate. Change the debate and you change the country.

For Noah Gardner, a 20-something public relations executive, it's safe to say that political theory is the furthest thing from his mind. Smart, single, handsome, and insulated from the world's problems by the wealth and power of his father, Noah is far more concerned about the future of his social life than the future of his country.

But all of that changes when Noah meets Molly Ross, a woman who is consumed by the knowledge that the America we know is about to be lost forever. She and her group of patriots have vowed to remember the past and fight for the future - but Noah, convinced they're just misguided conspiracy-theorists, isn't interested in lending his considerable skills to their cause.

And then the world changes.

An unprecedented attack on U.S. soil shakes the country to the core and puts into motion a frightening plan, decades in the making, to transform America and demonize all those who stand in the way. Amidst the chaos, many don't know the difference between conspiracy theory and conspiracy fact - or, more important, which side to fight for.

But for Noah, the choice is clear: Exposing the plan, and revealing the conspirators behind it, is the only way to save both the woman he loves and the individual freedoms he once took for granted.

After five back-to-back number-one New York Times best sellers, national radio and Fox News television host Glenn Beck has delivered a ripped-from-the-headlines thriller that seamlessly weaves together American history, frightening facts about our present condition, and a heart-stopping plot. The Overton Window will educate, enlighten, and, most important, entertain - with twists and revelations no one will see coming.

Creatively Insightful!

As events today often appeared to be impossible not long ago, this book reveals how the changing public perception and acceptance can be influenced by manipulation. As one with a sales and marketing background, I found myself frequently nodding with understanding while listening to the audio version.

Timely Explanation of Recent a Events

If one steps back from the obvious "conspiracy" nature of this, the book can be viewed as a metaphor encouraging us all to be diligent in insisting that our elected officials return to Founding Principles. If the American experiment fails, it is because "We the People" have forgotten that in America we are in charge-not the elected officials, not the bureaucrats, not the businesses. We must take back our power.

It's a good book

A good book, that kept me intrigued throughout. I like the story line the characters seemed a little too "stereotypical" at times. I found a lot of similarities to the Star Wars trilogy (1st and best).

Very disappointed

Would you try another book from Glenn Beck and/or James Daniels?

Yes

Has The Overton Window turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of James Daniels?

Don't care

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No

Any additional comments?

I didn't even finish it. The plot was ok, just barely ok. It might have kept my attention. But there was more time spent on the sappy romance than the real plot. And the "almost" sex scenes were disappointing to me. Glenn Beck is usually very family friendly. I'm a huge fan of his, but this was a tragedy.

This is a well written book

What made the experience of listening to The Overton Window the most enjoyable?

I love a book that uses facts in it's story line.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Overton Window?

Noahs' speech when he speaks about our laziness and about our division and how we are easily manipulated because of it.

Which character – as performed by James Daniels – was your favorite?

Noah

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

The book was great. What makes a great political thriller is that it could be possible by using facts in the way Glenn Beck did. I truly enjoyed the book it made me think. The book opened my eyes to understand that blaming people is not what we need to do. We need to find something that unites us otherwise this could be possible. We allow political parties to divide us and no one is trying to find ways to unite us which makes this book so interesting and plausible. A good political thriller has a ring of truth in it.

I enjoyed the journey!

What did you love best about The Overton Window?

I am a political junkie! I like that Glenn takes what is happening today and builds a "this could happen" story around it! Fun ride!

So Real It's Scary

Where does The Overton Window rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was hard to get through (content-wise) because it was SO possibly real-life, that I found myself with the same 'angst' I get when I watch what is going on in our true-to-life politics. When I get so filled up with anxiety and that 'helpless to do anything about it" feeling, I have to 'turn it off'. So I found myself doing the same while listening to this 'fiction' story...not the fault of the book! I did finish it and would recommend it as 'enlightening' in a scary sort of way.
