Publisher's summary

Charlie Castillo's secret unit has been disbanded - but that doesn't mean he's out of business. As experience has painfully shown him, there are many things the intelligence community can't do, won't do, or doesn't do well, and he has the men and assets to help set things straight.

But the first opportunity, when it comes, is shocking: A FedEx package arrives, bearing photos of barrels containing some of the most dangerous biohazard materials on earth, all of which were supposed to have been destroyed during a raid on a secret Russian factory in the Congo. Who has them, and what do they want? Castillo has a feeling he's not going to like the answers.

Ok but different

I like the series. After listening to the first few read by Dick Hill, it will take some getting used to anyone else reading them as pronunciations of names , places, etc not continued in the same fashion make it, well, weird and tougher to listen to. I'm willing to give it a shot but continuity is continuity and this series just slipped on that somewhat for me at least.

Contrary to popular opinion

I personally found this novel to be very good. Having been introduced to Mr. Griffins books with "By Order Of The President" it moved at a perfect pace for my taste; and as usual, the characters are very well written. I do admit, I wish Dick Hill had done this production, but the gentlemen narrating this did quite a good job. I look forward to starting "Covert Warriors" on my drive to work this evening.

Good Story, Weak Narration

Previous books in this series had excellent narration. The new narrator is lacking!

Would have been better with Dick Hill...

I've listened to all the books in this series and frankly am disappointed in this one. When I purchased this installment it said Dick Hill was the narrator. I haven't enjoyed it nearly as much as the previous books.

Need more Max

I was on the fence after reading reviews. I disagree I loved it and the change of narrator was not that big of a deal. I need more Charlie and Max. I cannot wait until the next assignment.

Doesn't live up to the rest of the series

This series has been one of my favorites, along with Mitch Rapp and Alex Hawke. I have to say I was disappointed in this audiobook. I missed the excellent narration by Dick Hill, but Jonathan Davies did an ok job. Butterworth was the co-author and I think that had more to do with The Outlaws being a downgrade from the rest in the series. The characters personalities were different throughout the book, and the ending was abrupt and dull. Still worth a listen if you have followed Castillo, but if you're trying to decide between it and another keep this in mind.

A good , but the series should be read in order

All the books in the series are enjoyable, and lots of twists, turns and action.
However, too much time is given to the history in previous books in the series.

Great story, horrible narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, Griffin is a great story teller and I've enjoyed all of his books.

Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davies’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the story. There was a few continuity issues but nothing major. There was also some recaps, but when you introduce new people into the story there has to be some recap. I hated Jonathan Davies pronunciation. Listen to the previous books and keep them the same. Every time he said Erik Kochen as Kotien I wanted to scream.

Enjoyable

Very enjoyable. The story line was believable. However, the media today can't be trusted anymore.
