Publisher's summary

John Lutz is fascinated by the nighttime dangers that await women alone. In The Night Spider, he improvises a new variation on this theme with a thriller about a serial killer who preys upon women living in high-rises. With few visible means of entry, the mysterious stalker kills women while they sleep in their beds behind securely locked doors. Like his namesake, he leaves his victims wrapped in their bed sheets and stabbed repeatedly, having them slowly bleed to death with their mouths frozen in a silent scream. The few clues left on the scene point to a wall-crawling, glass-cutting predator who easily eludes the best minds on the police force. Now a determined detective must stop him, before time runs out for his next victim.

Night Spider

This is the first John Lutz book I've read. He does a great job with the characters. The ending was very disapointing. I can't say more because I don't want to give anything away. I found it very lazy on the part of the author.

Great characters but a flawed plot

Scott Brick's narration, excellent character development and some pretty evil folks were the positives for this listen. The negatives included some unbelievable dot connecting by Lead Investigator Horn and plot digressions that led to nowhere. I've listened to four books by John Lutz and have enjoyed all of them. I've awarded four stars to three of them (including this one) and five to Chill of Night. I'll keep listening and hope for another five star experience.

Another good story teller

As you run through good authors and wait for the next book out it's always a scramble to find new reads that leave you reactive. If an author can evoke emotions such as fear, laughter, tears, the desire to cover your eyes before you go on .. in my book it's a good book. Looking forward to my next Lutz listen.

loved it!

This was my first purchase from audible.com. Scott Brick has clearly spoiled me for other narrators. He is fabulous. And this was also my first John Lutz book and I guarantee it won't be my last. Without spoiling the plot for someone else, let me just say that the suspenseful tension is often at fever pitch. Thriller/mystery fans will not be disappointed.

What a Web!

I really enjoyed this book. Well-written. Suspenseful. I loved the charcters, I found myself up late many nights listening to just a few more chapters, and then I would end up being "scared" awake, with my heart running a mile a minute from the story.

I also thought the background and first-person take on the killer was fascinating, adding a new texture to the storyline.

The cherry on this sundae is Scott Brick, a truly superb reader. Thanks Audible!

A real byte-turner!

I really wish that Audible had more thn two John Lutz books available. I have read "Night Spyder" and my wife has read that book and "Night Caller". We both agree that this man REALLY knows how to write thriller fiction. This is truly an audio book that is hard to turn off. And the narration -- Scott Brick. Nothing more need be said!

A Real Thriller

I love this author's books. I have listened to this book and The Night Caller and The Night Watcher, as well. I also like the narrator, Scott Brick. I've learned that the narrator can make or break a book, and he's very good. I'm looking foward to listening to more of Mr. Lutz's books. I'm so glad that I found him.

Loved the details, I mean the tiniest of details

Loved it. The twist and turns were the best. I could almost see the window with the details. And Scott Brick is the best narrative I have ever listened to.
