Just What I was Hunting For

All around a great experience.
So happy there are still great authors out there.
And great performers to bring their brilliantly written stories to life.

Perfect audio pace. A thoughtful, gripping novel

I strongly disagree with the reviewer complaining about the narration speed. After encountering the enigmatic Elvie in another Ramsay book, I found it fitting for both the character as well as the overall atmosphere.

Great story, deeply atmospheric with unpredictable characters and interesting twists.

spellbinding - big scary beasts

Would you listen to The Night Hunter again? Why?

yes I would. fabulous reader. so many amazing twists and details.

What did you like best about this story?

the mystery is woven so incredibly well.

Which character – as performed by Cathleen McCarron – was your favorite?

Elvie is an amazing characterization by Cathleen. Cathleen gave her the right amount of oddness yet like-ability.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Great story, good writing, some weird backstories

From time to time, I would stop listening because the backstories were odd. Once the story brought Costello in, however minimally, the narrative seemed more focused. I like the Caro Ramsay Costello and Anderson books over all. This is my third and I'm sure that I'll read them all!

absolutely spell-binding to the last page

I really enjoyed this book. It was almost painfully suspenseful, and I didn't know what to expect from minute to minute. The only reason that I gave the book 4/5 is because at the end, I realized that there were some sub-plots to the story that did not seem to be fully explained. I felt that the story ended too abruptly and perhaps needed more epilogue because there were so many characters involved in the plot. The narrator is outstanding, and I would definitely recommend the book. But, I would also say to be prepared to reach the end of the story and wish you knew a bit more detail.

What a disappointment

Would you try another book from Caro Ramsay and/or Cathleen McCarron?

Loved the previous books in this series. Not so this one. Anderson and Costello are on the edge of the story. The narrator is slooooow.

Would you be willing to try another book from Caro Ramsay? Why or why not?

Since I loved the previous books in this series, I will try the next one.

How could the performance have been better?

noooooot soooooo slooooooow.

Any additional comments?
