Publisher's summary

From a master of suspense comes a chilling novel that explores the dangers lurking closer than you think. Because even in the perfect family, you never know what is going on behind closed doors….

This is what happened… It was a case guaranteed to spark a media feeding frenzy—a young mother, blond and pretty, disappears without a trace from her South Boston home, leaving behind her four-year-old daughter as the only witness and her handsome, secretive husband as the prime suspect. In the last six hours…

But from the moment Detective Sergeant D. D. Warren arrives at the Joneses’ snug little bungalow, she senses something off about the picture of wholesome normality the couple worked so hard to create. On the surface, Jason and Sandra Jones are like any other hardworking young couple raising a four-year-old child. But it is just under the surface that things grew murky. Of the world as I knew it….

With the clock ticking on the life of a missing woman and the media firestorm building, Jason Jones seems more intent on destroying evidence and isolating his daughter than on searching for his “beloved” wife. Is the perfect husband trying to hide his guilt—or just trying to hide? And will the only witness to the crime be the killer’s next victim?

Kept me guessing until the very end!

Well written, produced and performed! A terrible tangle of all the bad things that can happen and justified ends.

Surprising

I downloaded this book inspite of my better judgement. The title "The Neighbor" sounded innocuous and the description read like another common crime story where the husband did it.

I was wrong! While I was waiting to get bored, the strangest thing happened - this book became interesting...then, intriguing. I listened to this book, the twists and turns never revealed the protagonist till the very end. This is the kind of mystery I love. You will never think about your next door neighbor the same way again.

This is one book you have to read!

Will keep you listening!

I just finished this audio book and I'm not sure what I think. Let's just say it's got an interesting ending. I haven't decided how much I like DD Warren, as a character. She not very likable to me. I don't even think she's all that good at ferreting out bad guys, but she has something going for her or I wouldn't keep listening. My favorite person is Bobby. He doesn't have much of a presence in this particular book though. I just can't decide if I liked the ending or not....

It's all connected!!

It's really amazing how the author is able to connect the FBI Profilers Series with this one. This is the second time I've noticed the connection and it's like this series helps close what seems like the unfinished story lines of characters in the other series. I won't spoil the twist in this book that is a direct connection to the FBI Profilers series but it is a trip!! I really am enjoying the way Lisa Gardner writes and I look forward to reading more of her works!!

Disappointed

Sgt DD Warren is not a likable character. I can’t figure out what if any role she had in actually solving the case. Won’t go further in this series. Narration was great!.

Enjoyed every moment

This story was fascinating, I could’ve listened for another few hours I didn’t want it to end. It held my interest continuously, I had a hard time putting it away. I found myself taking longer and longer walks in order to continue the story. Looking forward to more like this! All narrators did an excellent job.

I am a fan!!

I have read several of Lisa Gardner’ s series - FBI Profiler series and Frankie Elkin duo. Now I have embarked on the DD Warren series….The Neighbor is my favorite on this series so far. I find the manner in which the characters from her other series are intertwined and developed into their own compelling thriller. Even if haven’t read other series, this thriller stands alone without the back story of Jason Jones. Like I said! I am a fan and will continue on in this series so see how Lisa Gardner masterfully intertwines the story lines and leaves the reader anxious for more!

Kept me guessing!

I really liked this book. The characters had many layers and the storyline had twists and turns that kept my interest. I thought I figured it all out at least a half dozen times before all was said and done. The narration was great!
