Ely escapes death, but, at the end of his tribal mission, he finally hears the "The Murmurings" and must not only face the fact that he is more deeply Indian than he ever realized, but also...that there's something more terrifying about that island than anything he's ever experienced in war. And that "something" came to rest...smack-dab in the middle of Indian country.

"Great story, looking foward to more in the series."
If you could sum up The Murmurings in three words, what would they be?

    Good storyline and pace.

What other book might you compare The Murmurings to and why?

If readers like Cork Oconnor, and walt Longmire series then they will enjoy listening to

this series as well. Looking foward to more of the same. I know the 2nd book is out in hardcover waiting for hope it will be on Audible soon.

    Story
"In need of serious audio editing"
Would you try another book from David Walks-As-Bear and/or John Williams?

    possibly

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

The audio is in serious need of editing. I am less than half way through the book and have had at least 10 places where the reader stops and starts a sentence over again. One place he even clears his throat and starts over. The reader himself has some potential but whoever did the editing failed to listen to what they were doing, or at least, listen to the end product. By leaving all the do-overs in this book they give both the author and the reader at a definite disadvantage for sales of future books.

    Story
"once again, bushwacked by christian prostelitizing"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the narrator and eliminate the prostelitizing.

What other book might you compare The Murmurings to and why?

None, I domybest not to read books that are preaching disguised as a mystery/thriller.

How could the performance have been better?

He could have read the book in a more relaxed way.

Could you see The Murmurings being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    no

    "Awesome Story"
Where does The Murmurings rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Loved this book, up there with Clive Cussler. Storyline was unique and interesting, never boring, keeps you guessing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character who is a native american former special ops kinda guy!

Have you listened to any of John Williams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't but I loved his narration and would be inclined to listen to other books narrated by him.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Enthralling

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait for book two, keep writing!

I'm a crippeled old warrior with difficulty typing/writing etc. I used to love reading books, and have read many. I now love audio books.

"Great story line with detailed characterization."
Where does The Murmurings rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks pretty high for a first publication, and it is off the Rector Scale for one of our own American Indians.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Raining Bear is my favorite and rightly should be. After all, he is the protagonist in a first person story.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Practice, Practice, Practice! The narration got better towards the end, but he lost his place numerous times in the script. Perhaps it was the Editor, but these lapses were amateurish and should have been removed.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several moments in the story that moved me. However, the last sentence killed me. The story was far too good for that ending. It seems the end of the story failed to be published.

    Any additional comments?

I look forward to David Walks-As-Bear's next effort, especially if it is the end of this story.

    "The murmurings"

This book has a good plot, but the reader is just awful, he makes mistakes, repeats himself and reads as if he is just going through the motions, takes the shine off the book altogether.
