Publisher's Summary

Crime and grime are everywhere, at least in Maggie Phillips' opinion. Deep in the throes of a New England winter, Maggie's still adjusting to her new role as confidential informant for the Hudson Police Department. When a suspicious fax is sent to one of her new clients, Maggie is sure she's unearthed a conspiracy. With no crime to investigate, however, the Hudson P.D. can do nothing-that is until a wealthy trophy wife disappears and the FBI is called in to the hunt.

On the home front, her twelve-year-old son is growing up way too fast, while her brother is back with a few surprises destined to wreak havoc on the household. To frost the whole crappy cake, her best friend's marriage is falling apart, which leaves Maggie worrying over her own. All of the family drama is put into perspective, however, when Maggie is arrested for kidnapping and blackmail.

Between economic woes and a now tarnished reputation, Maggie is in way over her head. Yet out of the ashes of frustration and failure, something great might emerge. If she survives the birthing process that is....

I have a rather eclectic love of books. I know what I like and I tend not to be a severe critic. If I enjoyed it, it gets 4 or 5 stars.

    "Enjoyable read!"

This was my first Hart book - I wanted a lighter read and this fufilled that need to the tee. The narrator is great! I found myself giggling quite often. It is a mystery and some of it might have been a bit hard to swallow, but then again, it is fiction. I certainly enjoyed it!

    "Terrible"

Production values were horrid. The writing was close behind.

If I had to turn the volume up for some reason, I would be treated to breaths blowing into microphone (especially the "P's") and the light smacks of lips opening. Lovely

    "Cheerful snooping"

I enjoyed the humor and the relationship between the "hag" and her husband. The narration was lively, but her Boston accent was weak, and she mispronounced many words in standard English sections. I will probably read more, but will need to take breaks between books so that the weaknesses don't bug me too much.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Misadventures of the Laundry Hag to be better than the print version?

I usually "read" one or the other, not both.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Uncle Scrooge is our protagonist and that is a strange nickname. Don't recall why her husband calls her that.

Which character – as performed by Suzanne Cerreta – was your favorite?

    All are done well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Would be nice, but not necessary for complete enjoyment.

    Any additional comments?

She makes me chuckle, which is good while driving.

I listened to the Audible version of this.Suzanne Ceretta does a great job narrating this farce.Maggie is an undercover cleaning lady. She cleans houses and listens to the dirty deeds of her employers for the local police. In this story she sees a suspicious fax and comes to a conclusion that her employers are in trouble. As usual she's not taken seriously and is even considered a suspect at times.Add marital issues to it and it's a confusing time all around. It's funny,it's gruesome and it's a must read!

    "Annoying nickname"

The EXCESSIVE use of the annoying nickname "UNCLE SCROOGE" was grating, spoiled an otherwise amusing cozy mystery. Did anyone edit this book?

"Totally Hooked by the Laundry Hag"

I wasn't sure when I ordered this book but was thrilled to get into it and find out I could identify! It was funny, stimulating, real and just the right amount of intrigue. Now I will be on to more of her adventures!
