Publisher's summary

It is now six years since the secret disaster at Jurassic Park, six years since the extraordinary dream of science and imagination came to a crashing end - the dinosaurs destroyed, the park dismantled, the island indefinitely closed to the public.

But there are rumors that something has survived.

Michael Crichton's 1990 sci-fi best seller became a cultural phenomenon with Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster film adaptation. But what are the key differences between the novel and the movie? One of the most beloved sci-fi adventure films ever made, Spielberg's juggernaut Jurassic Park is a feat of animatronic work, impeccable casting, and wildly perfect pacing. No less incredible, still, is the novel on which it's based, Crichton's masterpiece. But just how similar are the two? If you're looking for the major differences between Jurassic Park the book and the movie, we've got you covered.

One Of The Best Sci-fi’s Ever

It may not live up to the hype and charm of the first novel but this will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more. A shame that Crichton passed at such a young age. Would have been interesting to see what he would have come up with new material and possibly refining to Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna

Slow starter into snowball effect of excitement!

I have always loved the stories of the Jurassic Park and Lost World told from the movies. But the books present a whole new world! This audio version was great and the reader performed very well. The Lost World was a great add on to Jurassic Park. Although there is a heavy amount of detail and context at the first 1/3rd of the book, it quickly begins to build speed until your ansiety begins to build with each new thing thrown at you! Just great!

Book vs Movie

SO much better than the movie! I very much enjoyed this story. It has so many more different layers than the movie had. The actor was awesome! I love those who can act out the characters instead of just reading the book. Brilliant!

The book was fantastic!

The book was much different than the movie. However, it was so great and I'm just sad it's over. I binged on it and finished it rather quickly. Great great story!

Not Quite Jurassic Park, But Still a Great Read

Probs give this 3.5 stars, roung up to 4. Still a great sci-fi book and an extremely enjoyable read. I only wish I took some time off between reading Jurassic Park and this book, because if I hadn't read it immediately after Jurassic Park I'd probably have enjoyed it a little more.

I liked how this wasn't the same plotline and philosophical debates as Jurassic Park too. The Lost World focuses more on understanding the behaviors of the dinosaurs in a "natural environment," and philosophizing over the relationships between animals and their environment over the course of evolution. All of which still fascinated me and kept me entertained.

I do feel like we were teased with some potential plots that didn't pan out, but c'est la vie.

Semi spoiler below:
I get the majority ret-coning of Jurassic Park's ending that needed to happen to make this book. However, I still don't fully believe that Malcolm would ever want to be involved in anything dinosaur related again, let alone go back to a dinosaur infested island AND not even prepare himself more this time at least.
