Publisher's summary

It is now six years since the secret disaster at Jurassic Park, six years since the extraordinary dream of science and imagination came to a crashing end - the dinosaurs destroyed, the park dismantled, the island indefinitely closed to the public.

But there are rumors that something has survived.

Michael Crichton's 1990 sci-fi best seller became a cultural phenomenon with Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster film adaptation. But what are the key differences between the novel and the movie? One of the most beloved sci-fi adventure films ever made, Spielberg's juggernaut Jurassic Park is a feat of animatronic work, impeccable casting, and wildly perfect pacing. No less incredible, still, is the novel on which it's based, Crichton's masterpiece. But just how similar are the two? If you're looking for the major differences between Jurassic Park the book and the movie, we've got you covered.

Great book

Great book on audio. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good story. This book has a good mix between proscience and antiscience.

A true classic, read by a phenomenal storyteller.

Of course I've read the novel a few times myself, but nothing (that I've personally found) feels as good and relaxing as having someone read your favorite story to you. Scott Brick really breathes life into the characters and gives them the voice and personality that does justice to what Michael Crichton portrayed in his novel. I simply love it and I highly recommend the prequel to this novel, Jurassic Park.

Thank goodness it is nothing like the movie!

Very well done book and anybody who appreciated the first should like this. Would have been a great movie if they stuck with the story already written by Crichton. The movie is just plain abysmal and I recommend avoiding it at all costs. Unless you read the book first then make fun of how bad the movie was.

Pretty good

But not as good as big brother Jurassic Park. Stronger female characters in this sequel.

Incredible book!!!!

I’m not sure why Hollywood wrote the atrocity that was part 2 of the movie. They should have wrote a screenplay based on this book. It was fun to listen to, made much more sense and loved the characterization. The movie was horrible, the book was A+. Narration was amazing!!

Loved It!

Perfect reading. I can really see each scene in my mind and I really get into the story. I laugh at the sarcasm and get excited and stay on the edge of my seat at the dino attack scene in the book.

Worthy sequel

It's not quite as good as Jurassic Park. The plot isn't as engaging as the first one. But there's more debate amongst the characters about the science and ethics behind the dinosaurs and extinction in general. Those passages of debate are The Lost World's strongest moments. And, as usual, Scott Brick is fantastic.

It's good.

good book. felt like it was resurrected from the previous book. it just didn't quite have the continuity that I had hoped. the reason for going to the island made me understand why the movie chose a different path. other than that it's a great book.

Good, not great

The scientists seem to blather on about whatever their ideas are. They are always preaching their ideas, which pulls the story forward by either vindicating them or demonstrating how wrong they are. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say this wasn’t written by a scientist, either that or Criton was exposed exclusively to blowhards in med school. I wish the characters were a little more rounded, but it’s still a good story.

Sarah Harding saves the day

This book should have been called Sarah Harding saves your ass again. If it weren't for her they all would've died 10 times over. Shout out to the kids, Kelly and Arby too. They swooped in a few times and showed us age is just a number. But, mostly I just want to be as awesome as Dr. Harding someday.
