Publisher's summary

The partners at Finley & Figg—all two of them—often refer to themselves as “a boutique law firm.” Boutique, as in chic, selective, and prosperous. They are, of course, none of these things. What they are is a two-bit operation always in search of their big break, ambulance chasers who’ve been in the trenches much too long making way too little. Their specialties, so to speak, are quickie divorces and DUIs, with the occasional jackpot of an actual car wreck thrown in. After twenty plus years together, Oscar Finley and Wally Figg bicker like an old married couple but somehow continue to scratch out a half-decent living from their seedy bungalow offices in southwest Chicago.

And then change comes their way. More accurately, it stumbles in. David Zinc, a young but already burned-out attorney, walks away from his fast-track career at a fancy downtown firm, goes on a serious bender, and finds himself literally at the doorstep of our boutique firm. Once David sobers up and comes to grips with the fact that he’s suddenly unemployed, any job—even one with Finley & Figg—looks okay to him.

With their new associate on board, F&F is ready to tackle a really big case, a case that could make the partners rich without requiring them to actually practice much law. An extremely popular drug, Krayoxx, the number one cholesterol reducer for the dangerously overweight, produced by Varrick Labs, a giant pharmaceutical company with annual sales of $25 billion, has recently come under fire after several patients taking it have suffered heart attacks. Wally smells money.

A little online research confirms Wally’s suspicions—a huge plaintiffs’ firm in Florida is putting together a class action suit against Varrick. All Finley & Figg has to do is find a handful of people who have had heart attacks while taking Krayoxx, convince them to become clients, join the class action, and ride along to fame and fortune. With any luck, they won’t even have to enter a courtroom!

It almost seems too good to be true.

And it is.

John Grisham Proves Class Action Suits are Scams

If you're looking for the usual great John Grisham book, you're going to be sadly disappointed, but you will be listening to a fairly good book. At times it's funny, other times it's said and sometimes it just makes you downright mad. I'm not sure I'd recommend this book to a friend, I have others that I'd recommend first, but if you're the kind of person that listens/reads every John Grisham book that comes out, then you do need to get this one too. You won't be completely unhappy that you did. Plus Dennis Boutsikaris is as always a great reader.

Grisham Writes Another Great Book

What did you love best about The Litigators?

I loved the humor and the speed of the story.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the main character and his side kicks.

Have you listened to any of Dennis Boutsikaris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and Dennis is one of the best.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't know....but interesting question

Any additional comments?

The only think Grisham didn't get correct were his facts around clinical trials. I understand it is a novel but John could have put more research into it.

John Grisham is a genius at character development.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It is easy listening, well developed storyline, and you get to know the characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The re re rehabbed drinking law partner. He is someone we all know. John G. did not demonize him, but was real with the struggle the guy had and how it affected everyone.

What about Dennis Boutsikaris’s performance did you like?

Yes. He did not take away from the story at all. Very easy to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It was a pleasure to get back to it each time. I looked forward to listening to it.

Any additional comments?

This is not an edge of the seat page turner, but a really good read. Thanks again Mr.Grisham.

Good "read" without being spectacular

If you could sum up The Litigators in three words, what would they be?

Not Bad, But bit predictable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The characters where interesting but none jumped out at you.

What does Dennis Boutsikaris bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed the readers style. There was subtle voice changes for the characters, so not suprised that some reviews didn't pick them up.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to keep listening and the story was good, but as my first Grisham Audiobook, was expect a major twist that, I guess was suggested at a point but didn't go anywhere, as a few of the areas that were looked didn't see to be continued

Any additional comments?

Good read and hasn't turned me off checking out other Grisham books. Perhaps being more from his movies, I am expecting too much.
