Publisher's summary

In a daring and chilling debut, Brad Thor draws us into a sinister labyrinth of political intrigue and international terrorism, serving up an explosive cocktail of unrelenting action and a shattering climax, as one man is pushed to the edge.

On the snow-covered slopes of Utah, the unthinkable has just become a nightmarish reality. Thirty Secret Service agents have been viciously executed, and the vacationing president of the United States has kidnapped by one of the most lethal terrorist organizations in the Middle East, the dreaded Fatah.

But one man, surviving agent and ex-Navy SEAL Scot Harvath, doesn't believe the Fatah is responsible for the attack. Driven by his professional code of duty and honor, and a solemn vow to avenge his fallen comrades, Scot creates his own rules to get some answers. But his search for the truth raises the blood pressure of his superiors... and casts his own life in mortal jeopardy. The deadly machinations have been set in motion by a shadowy coalition, comprising some of the highest-ranking officials in government and business, men who operate above the law, men who realize the threat Scot poses to their hidden agenda...men who will do anything to stop him.

Now framed for murder and on the run, Scot goes for broke and takes his own brand of justice to the unlikeliest place of all, the towering mountains of Switzerland. It is there that he finds an improbable ally in the beautiful Claudia Mueller of the Swiss Federal Attorney's Office. Together they must brave the subzero temperatures and sheer heights of treacherous Mount Pilatus, and enter the den of the most notorious team of professional killers the world has ever known.

"A hot read for a winter night." (People)
"High-voltage entertainment reminiscent of Robert Ludlum and David Morrell." (Library Journal)
"Schultz's tense, energetic reading builds the suspense and drama of Thor's strong plot of political intrigue and international terrorism. Fans of Ludlum-style action will be satisfied." (AudioFile)

I <3 Scot Harvath

If you could sum up The Lions of Lucerne in three words, what would they be?

Excellent Action & Excitement

Any additional comments?

I wish this was unabridged and the other early books in this series were available unabridged. I have bought the next book in the series on paperback and have almost finished it. Love this series.

predictable plot, technical problems.

Would you try another book from Brad Thor and/or Armand Schultz?

Probably not

Any additional comments?

There are technical glitches with the recording. Seems to have a 30 second gap of dead air at the end of many chapters. Also, learn the correct terminology of the guns that are focal in your story. The author should have done at least 20 minutes on google. Also, MAGAZINE - not a "clip".

Cheesy

Very predictable from start to finish. Heavy on the cheese. 80's movie one liners abound.

Disappoint

I heard of brad thor from a friend and thought I'd take a listen but sadly I didn't like the book and the narrator was not exactally good at keeping the audience pulled into the whole story cause it sounded like he was bored.

Wouldn't bother

What would have made The Lions of Lucerne better?

This is the first Brad Thor novel I have read/heard. The performer read the book with no emotion, no change in character and amateurish. The content of what he had to read was juvenile as well. I would not recommend.

I won't be reading another of his books.

Poor research and below average, predictable story line. A few hours of my life I can't get back.

Sophomoric at best

What would have made The Lions of Lucerne better?

If Vince Flynn would've written it.

What was most disappointing about Brad Thor’s story?

The dialogue, the patch-work story line, the author's inexperience. It was obvious this was one of Thor's earlier works. Some of the lines came straight out of a cheesy Steven Segal movie.

Did Armand Schultz do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Armand Schultz did an admirable job, considering what he had to work with.

What character would you cut from The Lions of Lucerne?

The flaws in this book go way beyond cutting one character.

Any additional comments?

This book was painful to get through. I'll give Thor another shot with one of his latter works, but I don't have my hopes up.
