Publisher's summary

To survive in a game with no rules at all, John Corey must invent a strategy that includes no luck at all. The hero of DeMille's No. 1 New York Times best seller, Plum Island, Corey has been through a lot, not the least of which was surviving three bullet wounds while serving on the NYPD. Now he signs on with the government's Anti-Terrorist Task Force in an attempt to stop an alleged Libyan terrorist known simply as "The Lion".

The Lion has the instincts of a wild animal, the bloodlust of a carnivore, and the boldness and speed of a cat of prey. And now he's loose in America. Can John Corey stop him? Or has his allotment of luck just run out? Nelson DeMille spins an epic tale of heart-pounding suspense.

I love John Corey!

John Corey, former NY PD and now on contract with the FBI anti-terrorism task force, is one of the funniest, most sarcastic and irreverent cops/agents of all time. While the plot is dead serious and gripping, the dialogue and Corey's dry sense of humor kept me laughing out loud. As usual, Scott Brick is superb as the narrator and he brings Corey's sarcastic wit to life.

Good subject

but boy does this need editing big time. Way too much fill chatter that does not mean anything to the story. I don't like that. It takes away from the excitement of the story when you have to listen to a useless conversation.
Good narrator tho.

Great book, wrong narrator?

Firstly, I loved this book. Before this book I listened to The Passage, which was also read by Scott Brick. I thought it was odd that I didn't recognize his voice when I started listening to this. After all, The Passage is about 40 hrs. long. When I finished this book, I started listening to The Lion's Game, also narrated by Scott Brick, and instantly recognized his voice. I am not sure who narrates this book, but am fairly certain that it isn't Scott Brick. The cover of the book says that it is narrated by Boyd Gaines, but I listened to a sample of one of his books and it didn't sound like the same reader at all. Nonetheless, the narration of The Lion's Game was superb. Just driving me nuts wondering who actually narrated it. :)

Great book

Even though anti-terrorism is not my favorite genre since all of them are pretty much same, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I had expected. It is quite long and I survived because of Scott Brick. Needless to say, he was great at his performance. The main character is funny, I often laughed out loud listening. I could have spared some of the cruelty which took longer than I wanted. The story was alright, narration was superb and overall, pretty good.

Great story writing!!!!

Fluid mixture of comedy with intense secret agent / international / spy type story line that takes place in USA. Love it-- see my review of Night Fall.

I liked this so much better than the first book

I just started the John Corey series. I know I'm late to the party. I must say that I really am not that crazy about the John Corey character. He's sexist and rude and arrogant. Sure, he's funny sometimes but overall I find him annoying. That said, the story is good. I don't think it needed to be this long and I'm already tired of him "falling in love" every time he works a case. And that part of this book was positively stupid and strains credulity to say the least. I won't say more because I don't want to give too much away. I will say that I'll listen to the next book in this series but there are other series I enjoy much more
