Publisher's summary

The best-selling legal thriller - and CBS TV series - has charismatic defense attorney Mickey Haller taking on a slam-dunk court case involving a Beverly Hills playboy - but as it spirals into a nightmare, he finds himself in a fight for his life.

Mickey Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, traveling between the far-flung courthouses of Los Angeles to defend clients of every kind. Bikers, con artists, drunk drivers, drug dealers - they're all on Mickey Haller's client list. For him, the law is rarely about guilt or innocence, it's about negotiation and manipulation. Sometimes it's even about justice.

A Beverly Hills playboy arrested for attacking a woman he picked up in a bar chooses Haller to defend him, and Mickey has his first high-paying client in years. It is a defense attorney's dream, what they call a franchise case. And as the evidence stacks up, Haller comes to believe this may be the easiest case of his career. Then someone close to him is murdered and Haller discovers that his search for innocence has brought him face-to-face with evil as pure as a flame.

To escape without being burned, he must deploy every tactic, feint, and instinct in his arsenal - this time to save his own life.

the music background at the end of each chapter was unnecessary and a bit cheesy. hope it does not become a trend

I'm guilty of enjoying this book

What did you love best about The Lincoln Lawyer?

What's not to love about the Lincoln Lawyer? In a world over-saturated with courtroom dramas, the Lincoln Lawyer manages to be original and interesting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mickey Haller! Mickey manages to be both likable and despicable at times. As bad as Mickey is at points, I want to believe he'll do the right thing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could have listened to the book in one sitting, it's that good. Being scatterbrained and wanting to stick to my strict bedtime, I limited it to 3 sittings.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book! If you don't think The Lincoln Lawyer is for you, give it a try anyway because you may just find you like something new.

I like!

I was preparing to cringe at cliche situations and such during this book, but the plot is good and so is the pacing. There are a few things that seem a bit too convenient or rushed (like the discovery in the storage unit), but overall a very enjoyable book. The reader is a bit.. off.. at times, but still listenable.

EXCITING & HEART RACING!

This is the first time I've read/ listened to Michael Connelly's work. I'm so glad I started with this one because it's definitely not going to be my last! I made so many notes and bookmarks coming back to each one repeatedly throughout the book I mine own attempt to put the pieces together. I dare say I just finished it but I'm going to listen to it again right now. And the movie doesn't even come close to this THRILLER!

Great Entertaining Story!!

I have seen the movie several times (it's old) and I love it. Just recently decided to listen to it on audible, it was very good. A couple of minor things were different but story line was the same. The characters and voices were done very well. A very good purchase.

Why the music?

The story is great. Reader is great. The music in between chapters is weird. It's distracting.

TWIST & TURNS BEAUTIFULLLY

My first Creighton, & was very pleased. A legal thriller & it delivers. The plot thickens, it twists, it turns & best of all one has no idea how it is going to end and the ending is great. Backed up with great narration, this one is defiantly worth buying.

The central character is a lawyer who has to defend his client, but his client is far from what he appears. I do not wish to give much away, & spoil it for you, but their relationship really kept me on my toes to the very end. It just gets darker & deeper as the story unfolds, & really keeps the suspense level high.

Fantastic!

I've never read a Michael Connelly book before. This book was great cover to cover. I hated to see it end.
