Publisher's summary

Alexander McCall Smith’s No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series has become a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the appeal of endearing protagonist Precious Ramotswe and the author’s charmingly quirky prose. In this 13th installment, Mma Ramotswe’s attention is focused on a pesky disciplinary problem at her adopted daughter’s school - while Grace Makutsi adjusts to wedded bliss and the famed Clovis Andersen arrives in Botswana looking for more than bush tea.

McCall Smith never fails to entertain

What did you love best about The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection?

I love his stories because they are small vignettes. They are just long enough to listen to on the way to the store.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the woman who runs the orphange. She wants nothing for herself but has no problem wheedling people to do things for the orphans

Longer, and we’ll worth it!

If this volume came to a person not really used to the wonderful Mma Ramotswe, it could stand alone. Mma Ramotswe truly pulls her weight (traditional, of course) as a private investigator in this very involved tale.
Oh, and Mr Anderson shows up to help......
Lots more to savor, of course.
As ever, Lisette Lecat IS the full cast!

Good people in a good place

The No 1 Detective Agent series is soothing and peaceful. You know all will turn out well, but you do not know how. Precious and Grace have the most interesting conversations. Precious is always kind and tolerates her associate Grace;'s absurdities. All my comfortable usual characters are present and some new interesting characters are introduced. There are three things going on. Fanwell, a mechanic at Precious's husband garage, is in trouble, the head mistress at the Orphanage is in trouble, and there is something odd going on in the building of Grace and her husband's new house. It is a fun and entertaining story.

I cannot say enough good things about the talented narrator, Lisette Leach. She is perfect for this book. Her pronunciations of the characters names and the towns in Botswana are remarkable. Her voice is perfect for the warmth and love this book gives to the listener.

Enjoyable light listen

I always enjoy this series, largely because of Lisette Lecat. She makes me want to talk like a Botswana native! This story didn't seem as well developed as some of the earlier books in the series, but it is still very enjoyable. I particularly enjoy Precious' internal struggles with retaining her moral principles while being sure that the culprit is appropriately punished. The gentle humor and constant reminders of the value in taking the time to slow down and appreciate the world around you is a refreshing change from murder and mayhem.

Slow down and enjoy!

Any additional comments?

That is how this series affects my psyche! This series is literally brought to life by narrator Ms. Lecat, the world that seems far away is brought home. The way the daily lives of the wonderfully created characters make any situation in their lives easy to work thru with a cup of tea and taking time to think. With the rich story and descriptive background there is no need for sex, violence, or even mushy romance to make for a truely saticfing story. I hope to enjoy many more stories from Mr. McCall Smith & Mma Rawmoswe

What did you love best about The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection?

I always love the easy flow of this series. The people and story line are like old friends that you care for. The mystery is never so far off base that is unbelievable, but everyday troubles and solutions.

Which scene was your favorite?

i loved the scenes when Grace as usual is Miss Busy- Body- Know-It-All and states her unsolicited opinions

Any additional comments?

I love the story and really love the narrator Lisette Lescat.
I would love to see the series back on HBO..LOVED JILL SCOTT IN THE PRECIOUS ROLE

I wish they were real!

Would you listen to The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection again? Why?

I have either read or listened to every every book in this series. Alexander McCall Smith makes me wish Precious and all of the characters are real people. I would love to meet them all! I love the simple lifestyle and common sense values in these stories. It makes me want to live in Botswana.

What does Lisette Lecat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lisette Lecat is an excellent narrator. I love her rich voice and pronunciation. It really makes a difference when you hear the names pronounced correctly. The writing brings the characters and story to life but Lisette makes them real and even more enjoyable.
