Publisher's summary

Alexander McCall Smith’s No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series has become a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the appeal of endearing protagonist Precious Ramotswe and the author’s charmingly quirky prose. In this 13th installment, Mma Ramotswe’s attention is focused on a pesky disciplinary problem at her adopted daughter’s school - while Grace Makutsi adjusts to wedded bliss and the famed Clovis Andersen arrives in Botswana looking for more than bush tea.

These can never be bad

This one is not quite as good as the others. I love listening to Lisette Lecat. She has a wonderful voice and she is so good at bringing the characters in this series to life.
I think what I missed in this book is the time out then the author tells us about Africa and how beautiful it is. There really wasn't that moment in this book and I missed it.
The story was ok and the characters wonderful and that means alot.

As always, a good mystery

If you could sum up The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection in three words, what would they be?

gentle, human interest

What did you like best about this story?

The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, too long for one sitting.I listen to it while walking or knitting.

Any additional comments?

I am never disappointed with AMS's stories. I do have trouble with the names and their pronunciations,, and sometimes the dialog is a bit difficult for me to follow because of that.

Enjoyable

Another tale of the wonderful Mma Ramotswe and friends and family, all likeable yet with flaws. This story introduced some new characters and situations that provided more story lines for the secondary characters so that we got to know them better. The narration was wonderful. I did find the story line to be a little too packed with different events and this seemed confusing but as usual, they all worked out well.

Another great No. 1 Ladies Detective book

I have read almost the entire series. I was hooked from the very first one. But I love listening to the series also. The writer is so delightful. Thank you Alexander McCall Smith! And Lisette is such a talented narrator/ performer. I'm going to finish the rest on Audible. I highly recommend this series for a pleasant, well-written and insightful book. And I love the glimpse I get of this small corner of Africa- in Botswana. I would love to visit there someday. But for now this series suffices.

No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency Delivers Again

What made the experience of listening to The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection the most enjoyable?

Lisette Lecat's narration has made all of this series joyful. This one has such a fun surprise I don't want to write a spoiler review, but it was sheer genius to bring in the "guest character" so to speak.

What did you like best about this story?

It held all the same high standards as McCall Smith's other 12 books, with a very cool surprise that could really only be appreciated after listening to the entire series (in my opinion!)

Which scene was your favorite?

The entrance of the special character and the way this plot line played out to the very end.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Botswanan Idol

One of the Best

Any additional comments?

This is another wonderful Mma Ramotswe story written by Alexander McCall. While all books in McCall's series are a good listen, there are a few that are better, stand out more than the rest. Book number 13 is one of those books. We get to meet, upfront and personal, Clovis Anderson. When you have read 12 other books telling of Clovis Anderson's detective rules it is a thrill to be with Precious Ramotswe when she discovers she is dealing with the famous man. In fact it's always nice to be back in Botswana with all the characters again. Alexander McCall is a wonderful story teller, and for his stories there is no better narrator than Lisette Lecat. Together they make the audio books 1 through 13 five star listens!

If you love Mma Ramotswe as I do

This book offers more twists and turns than the usual Ladies #1 Detective Agency story. It has happy endings of course and was the perfect exciting feel-good book.

A Delightful visit with Mma Ramotswe

I am a fan of Alexander McCall Smith and love his meandering philosophizing. Lisette Lecat bring the book to life with her narration of the book. In this story Clovis Anderson comes to town and helps Precious solve her crime. Smith's stories always impart some pearls of wisdom and or ethics in an interesting story. When reading his books I always feel like I have just had afternoon tea with an old friend. For those of you who are fans enjoy the book. This series always makes me want to take a trip to Botswana. I understand this month they are releasing another new book called The Great Cake Mystery. It takes place when Precious is a child. Can not wait for it to come out.

I love this series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I love the books, but Lisette Lecat's narration is a special treat. She brings the characters to life, and gives the book a wonderful rhythm.

What other book might you compare The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection to and why?

Obviously, other books in the series!

Have you listened to any of Lisette Lecat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have heard her performance of Reading Lolita in Tehran. That was good, but she is the perfect voice for the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I love the encounter with Clovis Anderson! He has been in the background of all the books. How wonderful to introduce him as a real person.
