Publisher's summary

With time running out to stop the nuclear destruction of Tel Aviv, Dewey Andreas must defeat his most fearsome opponent yet.

Off a quiet street in Brooklyn, New York, Israeli Special Forces commander Kohl Meir is captured by operatives of the Iranian secret service, who smuggle Meir back to Iran, where he is imprisoned, tortured, and prepared for a show trial. What they don’t know is that Meir was in New York to recruit Dewey Andreas for a secret operation.

Meir had been tipped off that Iran had finally succeeded in building their first nuclear weapon, one they were planning to use to attack Israel. His source was a high-level Iranian government official and his proof was a photo of the bomb itself. Dewey Andreas, a former Army Ranger and Delta, owes his life to Meir and his team of Israeli commandos. Now, to repay his debt, Dewey has to attempt the impossible - to both rescue Meir from one of the world’s most secure prisons and to find and eliminate Iran’s nuclear bomb before it’s deployed - all without the help or sanction of Israel or America (at the near certain risk of detection by Iran).

Unfortunately, Dewey’s first moves have caught the attention of Abu Paria, the brutal and brilliant head of VEVAK, the Iranian secret service. Now Dewey has to face off against, outwit, and outfight an opponent with equal cunning, skill, and determination, with the fate of millions hanging in the balance.

Absolutely fabulous! I want a book four!!!!

What did you love best about The Last Refuge?

The way Dewey fooled Iran and the ending.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. I was always waiting for trouble to appear. Never knew what Dewey might have to do next.

Which character – as performed by Peter Hermann – was your favorite?

Of course Dewey. He is a great narrator for Ben Coes and Dewey books.

Any additional comments?

A great listen!! Another Mitch Rapp by far.

Dewey Andreas rocks

1. Ben Coes, he is a good writer of the caliber of Vince Flynn and Michael Connelly, I have enjoyed his characters and the twist the plot took.

2. This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys Mystery/thriller. It is well written and as far as I am concerned it deserves a space on my bookcase. The book is solid, there is nothing trite about it, which I will not read. Dewey is a good character and while he isn't a womanizing man his character is very manly.
3. The narrator does a good job with the character reenactment and he has a strong voice which brings Dewey and the others alive.

I really liked reading this book.

Much better

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would. It's a good read. The action is steady, and while there is some suspension of belief, it's not overwhelming.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Probably Andreas, as he's the main character, but all are good.

Which character – as performed by Peter Hermann – was your favorite?

I'd say Jessica. It's good to have the Irish accent back.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I suppose I would've if I could. I didn't listen continuously until the last several chapters.

Any additional comments?

Peter Herman is excellent for this series, also, no silly descriptions like the nozzle of a gun, or incorrect terminology like the last book, Coup d'Etat.

Yes! More Pro America, Anti-Radical point of view

Just discovered Ben Coes, I’ve read every Vince Flynn, most Clancy’s, All the Brad Thor books. Coes presents the same message of those great writers. Pro-America, whatever the cost, and Anti extremist, whatever the cost. These writers hold in high esteem the American and allied Special Forces, who in real life do fight these small, important battles in far away places. Also they hold in low esteem the knuckle-headed politicians who screw things up on a daily basis😊. Great book, keep em coming

Fantastic Series and Narration!

Wow this series is so good. I love it.

Dewey Andreas is awesome! Can't not love him.

This book is full of intrigue, action, plots, plots foiled and amazing writing.

I really like the that the author gives you the back and forth of what is happening all the time from different points of view.

If you like action packed stories you will love this series.

As for the narration, it is fantastic. Peter Hermann does a superb job on all the voices and gives everyone their own distinct voice. He has a great reading voice and reads with emotion.
