Publisher's summary

With time running out to stop the nuclear destruction of Tel Aviv, Dewey Andreas must defeat his most fearsome opponent yet.

Off a quiet street in Brooklyn, New York, Israeli Special Forces commander Kohl Meir is captured by operatives of the Iranian secret service, who smuggle Meir back to Iran, where he is imprisoned, tortured, and prepared for a show trial. What they don’t know is that Meir was in New York to recruit Dewey Andreas for a secret operation.

Meir had been tipped off that Iran had finally succeeded in building their first nuclear weapon, one they were planning to use to attack Israel. His source was a high-level Iranian government official and his proof was a photo of the bomb itself. Dewey Andreas, a former Army Ranger and Delta, owes his life to Meir and his team of Israeli commandos. Now, to repay his debt, Dewey has to attempt the impossible - to both rescue Meir from one of the world’s most secure prisons and to find and eliminate Iran’s nuclear bomb before it’s deployed - all without the help or sanction of Israel or America (at the near certain risk of detection by Iran).

Unfortunately, Dewey’s first moves have caught the attention of Abu Paria, the brutal and brilliant head of VEVAK, the Iranian secret service. Now Dewey has to face off against, outwit, and outfight an opponent with equal cunning, skill, and determination, with the fate of millions hanging in the balance.

love Ben coes

narrator is absolutely superb.....gets the accents so well.

sometimes the names of characters are hard to keep straight but it all gets figured out after awhile. Ben writes amazingly exciting stories. this is my 3rd and I'm going on to the 4th - I NEVER read series but I'm hooked on Dewey Andreas - the dude is just so perfect!!!

Can’t stop listening to the series. New to Mr Coes, right up there with Thor or Flynn.

Another great Dewey Andras espionage thriller!!

I was fortunate to run across and listen to the first Dewey Andras novel, Power Down, when it was published in 2010. I'm now catching up with reviews of the best espionage thrillers I listened to prior to beginning to write reviews at Audible. By the way, Ben Coes' next Dewey Andras thriller, First Strike, will be released on June 28, 2016.

In The Last Refuge Kohl Meir, leader of Israeli special forces, is kidnapped in New York City by Iranian operatives where he went to, among other things, enlist the help of Dewey Andras with an operation. Meir is moved to a prison in Iran where he is tortured and placed in a show trial for spying. Andras' mission is to enter Iran and free Meir. The background is that Iran is seeking to fabricate justification to destroy Israel with nuclear bombs.

This is a great espionage thriller! It's made even better by the return of Peter Hermann to narrate the series.

Very highly recommended!

Andreas kicks ass!

Great story except for the very minute l9ve interests of Andreas. I could care less, I listen for the action and their is plenty of it.

Entertaining

This book 3 was a good Dewey Andreas adventure. Sometimes the dialogue between the "bad guys" was not believable and a little juvenile, but I could ignore it and move along with the over-all story line.
My biggest complaint is the narrator Peter Hermann. He has such a flat delivery and tone that you could almost be lulled to sleep. I am surprised that Ben Coes continues to use this author to tell this story. I started at one and am continuing but I admit to disappointment when I see that it is narrated by Peter Hermann. His voices are good - it's just everything in between.

Dewey gets things done

Small window of opportunity, nearly impossible odds, short on time, who do you call? Dewey Andreas of course, and boy does he deliver. He delivers fast paced action on an international level. This third book in the series continues the amazing pace and events taking place in Dewey's world. It has been a wild ride that I hope continues.
