Publisher's summary

In Brad Thor's highest-voltage thriller to date, Scot Harvath must race to locate an ancient secret that has the power to stop militant Islam dead in its tracks.

June, A.D. 632: Deep within the Uranah Valley of Mount Arafat in Mecca, the Prophet Mohammed shares with his closest companions a final and startling revelation. Within days, he is assassinated.

September 1789: U.S. minister to France Thomas Jefferson, charged with forging a truce with the violent Muslim pirates of the Barbary Coast, makes a shocking discovery - one that could forever impact the world's relationship with Islam.

Present day: When a car bomb explodes outside a Parisian café, Navy Seal turned covert Homeland Security Operative Scot Harvath is thrust back into the life he has tried so desperately to leave behind.

Saving the intended victim of the attack, Harvath becomes party to an amazing and perilous race to uncover a secret so powerful that militant Islam could be defeated once and for all without firing another shot, dropping another bomb, or launching another covert action. But there are powerful men who are determined that Mohammed's mysterious final revelation continue to remain hidden forever.

Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as "quite possibly the next coming of Robert Ludlum", Brad Thor takes listeners across the globe on a heart-pounding chase in which the stakes are higher than they have ever been.

Impressed every time

Every time I start a Brad Thor thriller I am sucked in to a well written story that plays like a movie in my head. The detail and research that he place into his books is amazing.

I have read now the first five books and found it not as interesting as the others.

Riveting

This makes me want to learn more history, both domestic and international. Gifted, meticulous author. I'm enjoying his series. Scot Harvath and Mitch Rapp would make an awesome team!

Excellent Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommend this audiobook to all my friends. Although this is fiction, it give a good insight at what happens behind the scenes and the quiet war being faught to protect Americans lives.

My favorite......this is awesome!

I have loved the whole series. But this is my absolute favorite. I have listened to several series, I believe this is the best action one. I hate that it is half way over.

Good story but the ending seemed rushed.

Good story but I wished it were longer. Seemed to be rushed at the ending. I have to admit that I liked all the previous books in the series better than this one. That being the case, I will without hesitation continue on with the series.

Not one of the better Scot Harvath books!

It was OK, but not great. The narrator did well as he normally does. The story was a little out of the realm.

Harvath at His Best

Would you consider the audio edition of The Last Patriot to be better than the print version?

I have never read The Last Patriot in the printed version. Having listened to the audio edition, I feel that the printed version could not compete.

What did you like best about this story?

The character development, action and great plot kept me wanting to listen without stopping.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to many of George Guidall's performances and his narration gives life to the character's and so much more. I can't compare this performance to other performances because I've found nothing to complain about. His narration is always top notch to my ears.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the history lessons about Thomas Jefferson. The way the author portrays Scot Harvath's love and honor of the USA always reminds me how wonderful the USA is.Using black ops to bring a mission to completion makes me stop and think. Maybe the USA could incorporate their own black ops to help them to settle many of the conflicts facing us today. Brad Thor created another great plot that provided me with another great listen. Keep them coming. It's difficult to understand why the fundamentalist Muslim's interrupt the Koran as they do, no mercy for the "infidel's," Islam is the only true religion. War has been with us since the beginning of time, God and religion always the reason to continue fighting. I suppose, living in peace, is another myth.

Best one yet?

This may be the best Harvath story yet. It’s Gray Man meets National Treasure. You won’t be disappointed with this one. I will say the way the characters forget how much Harvath has done for them in the past always gets me with these stories, but other than that, you will enjoy!

A Hit (in more ways than one)

Where does The Last Patriot rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is possibly one of the really good books that I have listened to in the past year.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Deep plot but not too difficult too keep up with and filled with twists and turns to keep you interested.

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

George Guidall is so versatile. He is great in every part. I might buy a book just because he was narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was but I never sit and listen to any book. I have them in the car and I never lose my place. In fact, I can't wait to get in the car so I can begin listening again.

Any additional comments?

This was my kind of story with my kind of performance by my kind of performer!
