Publisher's summary

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

Explosively Entertaining

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook since I am a fan of Mitch, Vince and George. It just works for me.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot moved pretty fast and balanced the history and character development.

Which scene was your favorite?

Going to the vet to see about a dog. What could go wrong there?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't have an extreme reaction but there were a range of emotions brought up by different scenes.

Any additional comments?

Worthly listen and I am glad to see Vince is able to get new book out so quickly after the last one.

the right stuff

Would you consider the audio edition of The Last Man to be better than the print version?

yes- I do not think i would have enjoyed this book nearly as much if I had read it. This was, at least for me, a very fun listen

What did you like best about this story?

Flynn delivers.

Any additional comments?

Really enjoyed listening to this book. Made the time pass and could not wait to hear the rest.
If you have read or listened to other Flynn books this is more of the same, and I mean that as a compliment.

I wish the story never ended.

I wish the book was ten times this length and we didn't have to wait another year to hear the next part in the series... :( Simply awesome.

My disappointment was that it ended.

If you could sum up The Last Man in three words, what would they be?

Three words? You're kidding right?

While the entire Vince Flynn series is wonderful. It truly is a treat to see an author get so far into a series and not lose sight of the characters, the emotion and twists. I highly recommend the series and this book. As always, the narrator George Guidall is extraordinarily talented and a real joy to listen to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Stan Hurley. What an obnoxiously wonderful character.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

AAA+Which by the way is a better rating than some countries! He is always remarkable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My eyes were wide at the narrative of Mitch Raps rant to the Afgan Local Police. Riveting.

Any additional comments?

Please Vince, you can have my money... Write more Mitch Rapp books.

Good, but not the best Mitch Rapp novel

It's good, and I enjoyed it, but it's not my favorite novel by Vince Flynn. It's hard to hit a home run every time, consider this a double, which is to say, it's worth your time and money.

Another Great Book

Mitch Rapp is like Led Zeppelin. Hard, fast and you never grow tired of them. He is the baddest man on the planet and no other writer has come close to capturing a like character like him. DO NOT END THIS FRANCHISE!!!

THE TALENTED VINCE FLYNN! WOW!

I have now completed the entire Mitch Rapp series and am SO sad to get to the last book. I sincerely hope it isn't the end of the series. I don't think I ever enjoyed a series quite as much as this one. The only glitch I feel kept this from being the "perfect" series was when two of the books had different narrators. George Guidall spoiled us in the very beginning and a change of narration became unacceptable. Otherwise, this series was so full of excitement, anticipation and even sadness. So true to life! Thank you Vince Flynn for a wonderful contribution to the audible world and PLEASE keep Mitch Rapp alive for all his fans!
