The book is well written and the narrator uses enough voices to make the listener interested... the book keeps ones interest all thru the book.
I recommend this book
When you read the first character created by Mr. Silva, Michael Osborne, I expected a series, but alas, after the second volume, Mr. Silva pulled an ace from his sleeve and has created Gabriel Allon. Great reading, sophisticated prose, meticulous research of locations and events. He created a master restorer, planner and executioner. This is a one nighter, as you can't put this book down. Mr. Silva, please keep them coming.
This is an older story, and shorter. The reader does the voices well. Silva's stories are easy to follow while driving, unlike most spy stories, that are so complex and with so many foreign names that they are probably better enjoyed in book form. Daniel Silva is a master of the craft, and I have listened to all of his books.
I thought the main character was fascinating, but the story itself didn't keep my attention and devolved into a misanthropic blah.
just not fresh enough to recommend.
if it were updated to reflect more current trends in movie heroines, probably.
I dont' know how this book got such great ratings. I had trouble paying attention to it as I thought the story line stagnant and uninteresting. The narrator was OK, nothing to write home about. I kept listening in the hopes something great would come of this but nothing ever did and I'm sorry I ever got this book.
I have continued to buy books of Daniel Silva and have enjoyed every one of them.
I do think the audio version would be better than print because of the voices and their different accents.
All the other Silva Gabriel Allon books and also in a way, the Lee Child Jack Reacher series; both series are just enormous mindless fun to listen to.
Probably Shamron, I could honestly see him
The master assassin returns
I only recently read my first Allon book - and I have read four in the last month. They are a compelling if not very heavy read. Great for long car trips, the treadmill, etc.
Daniel Silva is great & story is one of his best. You might be able to guess what happens @ the end, but a great ride while it lasted. Story line is easy to follow & in the end, evil dies & the good prevail. Almost all of Silva''s books are good & can't go wrong to add to the lists of must read/listen for avid readers. A great spy story & interactions are easy to follow..
The evil die, the good prevail.
clear, flexible & suspensefull.
One of many Silva's best.
While I haventread the print version Jason Culp brought this to life for me
It was very well done and keep me entertained through out the entire book
Jason Culp was awesome in this I just wish he would have kept doing the entire series!!!
i must say i have read every silva novel and yet i must say i disliked this one. It was left of center, bleeding hart liberal propaganda, the opposite of his other writings. I dont recomend this book even if it is written well.
