Publisher's Summary

For former Marine sniper Dox, a long-range hit in Cambodia was supposed to be just business as usual. But when you find yourself mixed up with rogue intelligence operations, gorgeous bar girls, and the world's worst human-trafficking heart of darkness, business is anything but usual. And making it personal is the most dangerous business of all.

    "Good Short Listen"

I love the Dox character so this was a nice deviation from the typical book in the Rain series. He can be ruthless when needed, but inside he has a soft heart.

"Barry did his usual good job of telling a story."

Dox was an excellent character in the John Rain series and this short story shows that he can stand out on his own as a main character.

    "Eisler narrates a 'Dox' shortie"

A very short and thus inexpensive (don't spend a credit on it..I do mean short!) story of Dox, John Rains buddy and an experience in Cambodia.

Worth the bucks, I enjoy Eislers narration a lot.

"Too Short and Not Enough Analysis on Dox's Part"
If you could sum up The Khmer Kill in three words, what would they be?

Dox is too distracted until the very end. Dox is a very likeable sniper and you know he can shoot just about anyone from any distance so you knew he was going to walk away.

Would you recommend The Khmer Kill to your friends? Why or why not?

Hmmm. I don't like short stories but would recommend to anyone who has read the earlier John Rain books. It doesn't stand alone.

Which character – as performed by Barry Eisler – was your favorite?

Dox, of course. He is the bit burly sniper who everyone underestimates and thinks is a southern hick. But, he is smart and all of that is his cover. I love Dox. Apparently all the women do!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It was too short not to listen to in one sitting.

    Any additional comments?

I appreciate the short story as fillers between the bigger novels but Rain could have made a cameo appearance.

"Despite the author this wasn't for me"

I don't care for short stories but this is Barry Eisler after all. He's a fabulous writer so I gave this a shot. I didn't finish it.

I couldn't find it interesting and just couldn't get into it. I rated it this high strictly because of the narration.

    "Good Short Listen"

This was my first Eisler book. I enjoyed the characters. His story drew me in quickly and kept me listening. I thought he did a great job with a short story. Enough so that I plan to try another novel by him.
