Publisher's summary

The extraordinary new adventure from the number-one New York Times- best-selling author.

Jungles come in many forms. There are the steamy rain forests of the Burmese highlands. There are the lies and betrayals of the world of covert operations. And there are the dark and twisted thoughts of a man bent on near-global domination. To pull off their latest mission, Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon must survive them all.

A devastating new weapon unleashed in 13th-century China... a daring rescue in the snowbound mountains along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border... a woman gone missing in the jungles of northern Thailand and Myanmar... for Cabrillo and his crew, all of these events will come together - leading to the greatest threat against U.S. security that the world has ever known.

Take another thrilling voyage with the Oregon Files.

The tone, voice and overall narrative was just ok

The story was not the best in the series but still good. The experience of the narrator greatly reduces the rating I’m providing

Endless imagination.

All main characters well developed. Story held my interest. Reminded me of the Saturday afternoon movies we went to as kids.

great book

I love the Oregon Files and this one doesn't disappoint. Can't wait to se what the crew of the Oregon has coming next. Jason Culp did a good job but I definitely missed Scott Brick. Bricks narration gave everyone a cool edge whereas Culp's kinda gave everyone a dweeby nasal sound.

difficulty with accents

What made the experience of listening to The Jungle the most enjoyable?

Good story and attention getting writing but... it was difficult at best to enjoy with the various attempts with accents used by narrator which detracted from the story in such a way that it may have better to have just read the book outright.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jason Culp’s performances?

no

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

two sittings

Any additional comments?

It would be terrific if the male and female voices were used by male and female narrators.

Back in The Saddle

Once an avid fan of Cussler, he went through quite a flat spot in the last 5 or so years. This one is old school, a formula book that really works for me!

Painful narration

I read or listen to these books to be taken away on a flight of fancy...however, this narrator is just...painful to listen to. Everyone is different I know, but he's killing me...slowly and with every cheesy accent.

Worst narration

Where is my Scott Brick? Mr Culp was so bad with the different voices..well, I almost didn’t finish.

Great story, hard to get used to Jason Culp.

I love this story, as I do all of the Oregon Files series. I have trouble listening and getting used to Mr. Culp as I am very used to Scott Brick and his characterizations, as he makes the Juan and the other regulars almost family, as he does with the other Clive Cussler series. I enjoy the story, but it is difficult to get used to Mr. Culp until almost the end.

Not my favorite

I love this series but this isn't my favorite. I found the story to be a little lacking and I didn't love the narration on this book as much as the rest of the series.
