Publisher's summary

It is Samhain - the Blood Harvest. Nonbelievers call it Hallowe’en. The night when eight Nashville teenagers are found dead, with occult symbols carved into their naked bodies. It’s a ritual the killers believe was blessed by Death himself.

When children are victimized, emotions always run high, and this case has the public both outraged and terrified: a dangerous combination. Recently reinstated homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson knows she has to act quickly, but tread carefully.

Exploring the baffling culture of mysticism and witchcraft, Taylor is immersed in a darkness that threatens to unbalance the order of her world - and learns how unchecked wrath can push a killer to his limits.

WOW!! .....

Wasn't sure I was going to like this one as much as the others but boy oh boy what a book it turned out to be. Great character development and the continuing plot certainly thickens ...Can't wait for next installment we get to meet the Pretender at last...OH BOY, OH BOY !!!

Love this series

The only thing about this particular one is that sometimes I lost the voice of the story teller for a second. It happened intermittently throughout the book. I would even back up to see if it was the area I was in, but it always happened at the same spot. But other than that, I really love this series. Definitely would recommend.

Loved the Wiccan insights

Clever story line and the characters continue to grow on me! Now to move on from the pretender: permanently.

Least favorite of the series

This book was HEAVY with sex and occult…. I kept going because of the main character’s story lines. I felt it was a little too sexually graphic for a murder mystery. Also something was off with the audio… it kept saying the wrong chapter numbers. Just finished it so I am not sure how I feel about the direction of the characters….

I don’t like it when the author goes back and forth in time

I had a hard time with the subject matter and the author went back and forth in the story so it was quite confusing at times. Also why does a dead person’s “testimony “ count for anything? This was a very poor plot device!

Love this book!

This is my favorite I think. 2nd time listening. Would love a book about the witches kid. I don’t think I won’t listen to this book a million times over.

This is quite different

I have enjoyed all of the Taylor Jackson series so far but this was a bit different so I didn’t give it 5 stars. There were a few big revelations in this book which I won’t let out of the bag.

My favorite….so far

I really like this book a lot. The narrator I think is really good and that helps. The story didn’t need help, it kept me interested through out. Great listen

I'm confused

I love these books. I'm going to listen to all of them and then start on the Samantha ones. The narrator is excellent. But in this book, something happened that confused me.

From here this is a SPOILER ALERT ************

This is Taylor Jackson Book #5. I just finished the first 4 so I don't know which one the following happened in. Starting in Book 1, Taylor and Baldwin have been involved. In one of them, they almost got married but Taylor was kidnapped on her way to the wedding. But they're still involved, even in Book 5, this one. Also in one of the previous books, the sexy woman, Charlotte, who worked in a different BAU at Quantico was discovered to be crooked and was murdered by one of the serial killers they were investigated. Prior to that, in a previous book, Baldwin admitted to Taylor that he'd been involved with this woman for a few "encounters" but it was nothing serious. Now in Book 5, they reference Taylor and Baldwin still being in love. But there's this sexy woman again, working in the SAME BAU as Baldwin, and they're spending most nights together. The woman is alive again. And she had Baldwin's baby. Has nobody else noticed this? Or am I just as totally confused as I thought?
