Publisher's summary

Julie Garwood is among the most critically acclaimed - and popular - romance authors around, with 36 million copies of her books in print. And now, with The Ideal Man, Garwood is poised to expand that already huge audience.

Dr. Ellie Sullivan has just completed her residency at a large urban hospital. While jogging in a park nearby, she witnesses the shooting of an FBI agent in pursuit of wanted criminals, a couple identified as the Landrys. The only person to see the shooter’s face, Ellie is suddenly at the center of a criminal investigation.

Agent Max Daniels takes over the Landry case. A no-nonsense lawman, he’s definitely not the ideal man that Ellie has always imagined, yet she’s attracted to him in a way she can’t explain.

Ellie heads home to Winston Falls, South Carolina, to attend her sister’s wedding. Shortly after she arrives, though, she receives a surprise visitor: Max Daniels. The Landrys have been captured, and she’ll be called to testify. But they’ve been captured before, and each time the witnesses are scared into silence - or disappear before they can take the stand. Max vows to be Ellie’s shadow until the trial, and it isn’t long before sparks fly....

Not up to her usual level

I am a huge Julie Garwood fan and i was so excited to hear she was coming out with another book. BUT this was not up to her past levels. I felt like she took two or three sections from some of her books and just put them together and then called it a new book.

I wouldn't buy this, but if you have an extra credit, it might be worth it.

Great easy listening

I almost did not get this book on the $4.95 sale because of some of the reviews but I found it to be just what it is - a light romance. Hard to beat for the money.

yes. you never knew when that psycho was gonna pop up and then there was that stinking hit man.

Which character – as performed by Christina Traister – was your favorite?

Ellie of course.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

yes. i loved how even though Max was really busy with his assignment he still helped Ellie's sister. that was so sweet.

Wraps up nicely

I enjoy this story very much. It is a stand alone novel with a good mix of action and passion. The narrator does a good job and I would listen other titles narrated by her.

Fun listen

If you are a fan of Julie Garwood, you know her typical format for her books. Girl needs the help of boy to stay safe. Though the girl is smart and strong, she needs a man's help fighting the villain. And in the process, they grudgingly fall in love. Whether she is a damsel in distress in the highlands of Scotland and her hero is a Laird or a professional woman in modern day America and her hero is a law man.

The secret to a good Garwood book is how creative the details of the story are in her tried and true format. I happen to be a fan of Ms. Garwood. I have read the majority of her books. While this wasn't my favorite of her books, it was enjoyable. The narrator did an excellent job.

Never had a bad read from Julie Garwood.

If you could sum up The Ideal Man in three words, what would they be?

I found this modern book well written. I usually read her historical romance; but I found this book compelling.

What did you like best about this story?

It was a very interesting story. I liked the dual story and how Ellie overcomes her troubles with the help of Max.

Which character – as performed by Christina Traister – was your favorite?

I hate to say this but I really like the sister getting married. I really wanted to just slap her. She made a really big impression.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh and think about what happens out in the bad world.

Very Interesting!

Where does The Ideal Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Ideal Man?

It kept my interest from beginning to end, can't say there's any special moments.

Have you listened to any of Christina Traister’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I can't remember if I've heard her before, but she's good. A pleasant voice. Some voices are not easy to listen to, but hers is.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book more than any I've heard in a long time. I would certainly recommend it to others.
