Publisher's summary

Julie Garwood is among the most critically acclaimed - and popular - romance authors around, with 36 million copies of her books in print. And now, with The Ideal Man, Garwood is poised to expand that already huge audience.

Dr. Ellie Sullivan has just completed her residency at a large urban hospital. While jogging in a park nearby, she witnesses the shooting of an FBI agent in pursuit of wanted criminals, a couple identified as the Landrys. The only person to see the shooter’s face, Ellie is suddenly at the center of a criminal investigation.

Agent Max Daniels takes over the Landry case. A no-nonsense lawman, he’s definitely not the ideal man that Ellie has always imagined, yet she’s attracted to him in a way she can’t explain.

Ellie heads home to Winston Falls, South Carolina, to attend her sister’s wedding. Shortly after she arrives, though, she receives a surprise visitor: Max Daniels. The Landrys have been captured, and she’ll be called to testify. But they’ve been captured before, and each time the witnesses are scared into silence - or disappear before they can take the stand. Max vows to be Ellie’s shadow until the trial, and it isn’t long before sparks fly....

Shes a Trauma Surgeon, he's a FBI Agent

Any additional comments?

Loved this book, great story, narrated well, .......... she is a prodigy, super smart, a trauma ER surgeon, he is a macho FBI Agent, this story is modern day. He meets her when there is a shooting near the hospital, where she happens to be jogging in the park near the hospital after work........... sparks fly from the get go, ....the story takes off from there. I cant tell more without giving the story away, but it is well worth the purchase. Loved it, enjoy.....

The Ideal Man is an ideal book

Ellie is a renowned trauma surgeon at age 22. She was a child prodigy. At age 11 a mad teenage started stalking her and he almost killed her. She went into hiding with relatives in the mid west and went to college and med school. The stalker has been released from treatment and has disappeared. Ellie is afraid for her life. Then to top things off, while on a run she witnesses a shooting by violent criminals and now they want to eliminate her. Here comes FBI agent Max Daniels to the rescue. He and Ellie are totally smitten with each other almost at first sight. Ellie goes to a family wedding in South Carolina and Max goes with her. The bride is Ellie's sister, Ada, who is marrying the man Ellie was going to marry a couple of years ago. Ada is bridezilla from hell. The stalker and the hit man can easily find out that Ellie is in SC at her family's home. Max has his work cut out for him. Max is tall dark and handsome - he is a macho male and very hot. Ellie is small, beautiful, scary smart and extremely caring. Wonderful H and H.

Julie Garwood has created great characters and great hotness between Ellie and Max. The supporting characters are also well defined and interesting. The action is well paced and the dialog is excellent. The narrator is excellent. A really ideal book. I listened to it in one sitting.

Typicle Story Line in the Series

Would you consider the audio edition of The Ideal Man to be better than the print version?

Have not read the print version.

What did you like best about this story?

Can't really say as it just fell in line with the story of that last 5 books before it in the series. Boy there to protect girl, girl falls in love with boy that can't be attached due to his job then boy realizes he is in love with girl when possible tragedy could separate them forever.....

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

maybe improve accents....just not a lot of emotion there.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No! It took me longer to read as I was so bored, I listened to 2 other books by another author before I finally finished this one.

Any additional comments?

I am a huge fan of Julie Garwood but am just so disappointed in the "Contemporary" series. Every story is the same but takes place in a different town with a different type of professional female damsel in distress story line that just ends up being the same. I loved her Medieval, Regency and Western books from long ago and have listened to them more than once but these stories are just not as captivating. I keep trying to give this line the benefit but......

The Ideal Man is a book that grabs you right from the start. I listen to Audjbr at night and I couldn't turn it off until the end of the story. I belie be it to be o.me of her best.

A thrilling Garwood

I love anything by Julie Garwood, and The Ideal Man isn't an exception, my only complaint is some of the action happened too fast. I felt like all the amazing plot twists were leading up to something big, then boom, it was over. The narration was good, all in all, well worth the listen!

This is one of my favorite

I enjoy all of her stories. But this is differently one of my favorites. The fact that there are no perfect families, that we all have problems. And that a kind hand 🤚 at the right time is a wonderful thing. A good book!!

Ideal man

I liked the story, I like the author. I really liked the reader. After listening to as many books as I have, the reader usually makes the story. I hope to hear other books with this reader.

Not any connection to characters from previous books

Storyline didn’t seem really unique as in previous books, I do enjoy the authors style and writing.
